The purpose of this case report is to present a rare finding of synovial sarcoma in a 5-year-old child. Most soft-tissue masses of the foot are too often presumed to be small and benign; therefore, compared with soft-tissue sarcomas, they are difficult to clinically differentiate and treat. A 5-year-old girl presented with a painful lesion that was diagnosed as synovial sarcoma after an excisional biopsy was performed.

Multiple surgical techniques for repair of neglected Achilles tendon ruptures have been described in the literature. The authors present a case using a freeze-dried Achilles tendon allograft for repair of a neglected rupture of the Achilles tendon with a defect of 10 cm. At 1-year follow-up, the patient achieved pre-injury functional use of the affected limb.

The STA Peg procedure was developed to correct flexible flatfoot in young children prior to the age when secondary deformities are likely to develop. The procedure involves the implantation of a peg fashioned from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene into the dorsal surface of the calcaneus, anterior to the posterior facet of the subtalar joint and fixed with polymethylmethacrylate. Smith has reported excellent overall results in the great majority of patients.

The authors have reviewed the literature on computerized tomography and it diagnostic potentials, and they are reporting on an applicable case affecting the foot. The case described is of an athletic 15-year-old female with unilateral hypertrophy of the abductor hallucis muscle. With the use of the C-T scanning device, additional information was acquired, as compared to the conventional roentgen diagnostic methods.

The authors discuss a rare case of heterotopic bone formation in the ankle of an athletic, 20-year-old Caucasian male. After conservative treatment provided minimal relief of symptoms, resection of the talar neck exostosis and inferior, anterior tibial exostosis was performed by an anterior medial approach. Two months postoperatively, after physical therapy, the patient had no pain or limitation of ankle dorsiflexion.
