Longitudinal analysis of sociodemographic, clinical and therapeutic factors of HIV-infected individuals in Kinshasa at antiretroviral therapy initiation during 2006-2017.

Background: The benefits of antiretroviral therapy (ART) underpin the recommendations for the early detection of HIV infection and ART initiation. Late initiation (LI) of antiretroviral therapy compromises the benefits of ART both individually and in the community. Indeed, it promotes the transmission of infection and higher HIV-related morbidity and mortality with complicated and costly clinical management.

Prevalence and determinants of poor glycaemic control amongst patients with diabetes followed at Vanga Evangelical Hospital, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Background: The prevalence of diabetes mellitus is increasing dramatically in developing countries, where diabetic patients usually present with poor glycaemic control, leading to complications and worsening the prognosis.

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the extent of poor glycaemic control and its determinants in diabetic patients.

Setting: The study was conducted in a rural area of the province of Kwilu, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Efficacy and patient satisfaction in the use of subcutaneous immunoglobulin immunotherapy for the treatment of auto-immune neuromuscular diseases.

We reviewed the efficacy of SCIg administration in terms of muscle strength maintenance and patient satisfaction comparing with IVIg in the treatment of auto-immune neuromuscular diseases. A systematic review was conducted, and identified studies from databases (PUBMED, EMBASE, EBSCO, Web of Science and Google Scholar) which were analyzed. The methodological quality of the selected publications was evaluated using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale.
