SPECT and PET imaging of meningiomas.

Meningiomas arise from the meningothelial cells of the arachnoid membranes. They are the most common primary intracranial neoplasms and represent about 20% of all intracranial tumors. They are usually diagnosed after the third decade of life and they are more frequent in women than in men.

Lung scintigraphy with nonspecific human immunoglobulin G ((99m)Tc-HIG) in the evaluation of pulmonary involvement in connective tissue diseases: correlation with pulmonary function tests (PFTs) and high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT).

Purpose: In patients with connective tissue diseases (CTD), the early detection and evaluation of the severity of the pulmonary involvement is mandatory. High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) and pulmonary function tests (PFTs) are considered to be valuable noninvasive diagnostic modalities. Radiopharmaceuticals have also been used for this purpose.

Multiple meningiomas.

A 57-year-old woman with hyperthyroid ophthalmopathy underwent somatostatin receptor scintigraphy with In-111 pentetreotide. She also reported migraine-type headaches over the previous 3 months, without any other obvious neurologic symptoms and signs. The study revealed an increased uptake of the radiopharmaceutical in both periorbital areas and the right lobe of the thyroid gland.

Interpretation of the post-surgical Somatostatin Receptor Scintigram of a Primary Neuroendocrine Tumor of the Thymus: a case report and literature review.

A case of a thymic neuroendocrine tumor and the interpretation problems in a post-surgical Somatostatin Receptor Scintigraphy are presented. In a 53-year-old man with superior vena cava obstruction syndrome an atypical carcinoid of the thymus (neuroendocrine carcinoma of intermediate grade 2), was found at surgery.During his first year of follow-up a Somatostatin Receptor Scintigraphy was recommended.

Palliative treatment of painful disseminated bone metastases with 186Rhenium-HEDP in patients with lung cancer.

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine if patients with lung cancer and metastatic bone pain due to disseminated secondary bone disease, can benefit from the treatment with (186)Re-HEDP and to discuss the criteria useful for selecting those patients.

Hypersensitivity reactions during hemodialysis related to the use of acetate dialysate. A case report.

A patient developed a hypersensitivity reaction two weeks after being put on hemodialysis with acetate dialysate. The reactions appeared exclusively during hemodialysis and were relieved immediately after its termination. These allergic manifestations disappeared with substitution of bicarbonate for acetate dialysate and reappeared upon rechallenge with acetate dialysate.
