Marajó Island, an environmental protection area for sustainable use in the Brazilian Amazon, was the first region in Brazil to apply the pesticide DDT, a persistent organic pollutant (POP), to control malaria outbreaks. This study investigated background levels of various POPs, including o,p'- and p,p'-DDT and their primary metabolites (o,p'- and p,p'-DDE, o,p'- and p,p'-DDD), as well as hexachlorocyclohexane (α-, β-, γ-, δ-HCH), using estuarine surface sediments and sediment cores from areas influenced by urbanization and agriculture. All samples were collected during the dry season (September 2014).

Problem: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic posed a major workforce challenge to Brazil, which has a large land area and a shortage of health workers in regions distant from the big cities.
Approach: The Brazilian health ministry implemented a computerized solution to provide rapid support to states and municipalities to hire health professionals from large urban centres to work in underserved areas during the COVID-19 pandemic. We designed an online system for health professionals to register their willingness to work on the COVID-19 response; the system was launched to the public in April 2020.

occurs in the Amazon region, and some species of this genus are used in Brazilian folk medicine. A recent study showed the inhibitory effect of this species against influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 virus, and in order to acquire active fractions, a polar solvent system -butanol-methanol-water (9:1:10, /) was selected and used for bioassay-guided fractionation of -butanol extract by centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC). The upper phase was used as stationary phase and the lower phase as mobile (descending mode).

Myasthenic crisis (MC) is a complication of MG characterized by worsening muscle weakness, resulting in respiratory failure that requires intubation and mechanical ventilation. It also includes postsurgical patients, in whom exacerbation of muscle weakness from MG causes a delay in extubation.

In addition, it is known that E-cadherin influences the adhesion of Langerhans cells (LCs) to keratinocytes.
Objective And Methods: The aim of this study was to investigate, using immunohistochemistry, the distribution of CD1a-positive cells in ameloblastomas and KOTs and their relationship with E-cadherin, in comparison to calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor (CCOT).
Introduction: Keratocystic odontogenic tumours raise particular interest, because of their high recurrence rate and association with nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome.
Objective: To analyze the clinical and histopathological features of all cases diagnosed as keratocystic odontogenic tumour in a Brazilian population.
Methods: A total of 64 keratocystic odontogenic tumours, arising in forty-six patients, were evaluated using the following parameters: association with nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome, gender, age at first diagnosis, race, anatomical location, symptoms, radiographic features, history of recurrence, association with teeth, and treatment.
