Impact of hospital characteristics on implementation of a Pediatric Early Warning System in resource-limited cancer hospitals.

Background: Pediatric Early Warning Systems (PEWS) aid in identification of deterioration in hospitalized children with cancer but are underutilized in resource-limited settings. Proyecto EVAT is a multicenter quality improvement (QI) collaborative in Latin America to implement PEWS. This study investigates the relationship between hospital characteristics and time required for PEWS implementation.

Background There is no consensus regarding the relative prognostic value of cardiac MRI and fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET in cardiac sarcoidosis. Purpose To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of the prognostic value of cardiac MRI and FDG PET for major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in cardiac sarcoidosis. Materials and Methods In this systematic review, MEDLINE, Ovid Epub, CENTRAL, Embase, Emcare, and Scopus were searched from inception until January 2022.

Clinical utility of technetium-99m-labelled leukocyte scan in diagnosis of vascular infections.

Introduction: The diagnosis of vascular graft infections and infected aneurysms via conventional methods such as computed tomography (CT) and ultrasound (US) can often be challenging. Nuclear medicine imaging techniques can detect infection in these difficult cases. We aim to evaluate the diagnostic value of technetium-99m-labelled leukocyte scans in diagnosing vascular graft infections in our centre.

Varicella zoster virus: a rare cause of acute pancreatitis in an immunocompetent child.

A 15-year-old girl with a diagnosis of varicella zoster virus (VZV) presented to hospital with severe abdominal pain. This patient was immunocompetent and found to have acute pancreatitis in association with VZV. She responded well to intravenous acyclovir and supportive treatment.

[Dissociation of a modular acetabular component in an uncemented total hip prosthesis. Effect of the modular design and anti-luxation rim. A case report].

We report a case of dissociation between polyethylene and metal-backing of the acetabular component of a total hip prosthesis after reduction of a late dislocation. We refer to advantages and disadvantages of an elevated-rim acetabular liner in total hip arthroplasty. The position of the metallic markers of the polyethylene and/or excentric situation of the neck-head complex from the metal-back allowed us to diagnose it.
