Combining loop with thiazide diuretics in patients discharged home after a heart failure decompensation: Association with 30-day outcomes.

Objective: To investigate the association of the addition of thiazide diuretic on top of loop diuretic and standard of care with short-term outcomes of patients discharged after surviving an acute heart failure (AHF) episode.

Methods: This is a secondary analysis of 14,403 patients from three independent cohorts representing the main departments involved in AHF treatment for whom treatment at discharge was recorded and included loop diuretics. Patients were divided according to whether treatment included or not thiazide diuretics.

We aimed to evaluate intentions to recommend the HPV vaccine to friends and relatives, to receive HPV vaccine, and to identify factors associated with these attitudes.

Tucatinib vs Placebo, Both in Combination With Trastuzumab and Capecitabine, for Previously Treated ERBB2 (HER2)-Positive Metastatic Breast Cancer in Patients With Brain Metastases: Updated Exploratory Analysis of the HER2CLIMB Randomized Clinical Trial.

Importance: It is estimated that up to 50% of patients with ERBB2 (HER2)-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) will develop brain metastases (BMs), which is associated with poor prognosis. Previous reports of the HER2CLIMB trial have demonstrated that tucatinib in combination with trastuzumab and capecitabine provides survival and intracranial benefits for patients with ERBB2-positive MBC and BMs.

Objective: To describe overall survival (OS) and intracranial outcomes from tucatinib in combination with trastuzumab and capecitabine in patients with ERBB2-positive MBC and BMs with an additional 15.

[Extension of HPV vaccination to boys: Survey of families and general practitioners].

Introduction: As part of an analysis on the extension of the HPV vaccination to French boys, the French National Cancer Institute (INCa) and the French National Authority for Health (HAS) have conducted in collaboration a survey on HPV vaccine acceptance in July 2019. This survey was completed by parents of children aged 11-19 and general practitioners (GPs). Questions focused on their representations, practices and intentions in the context of the future policy change allowing boys to get vaccinated against HPV.

Clinical, histological and molecular profiling of different stages of alcohol-related liver disease.

Objective: Alcohol-related liver disease (ALD) ranges from never-decompensated ALD (ndALD) to the life-threatening decompensated phenotype, known as alcohol-related hepatitis (AH). A multidimensional study of the clinical, histological and molecular features of these subtypes is lacking.

Design: Two large cohorts of patients were recruited in an international, observational multicentre study: a retrospective cohort of patients with ndALD (n=110) and a prospective cohort of patients with AH (n=225).

Tissue-resident memory T (T) cells are non-recirculating cells that exist throughout the body. Although T cells in various organs rely on common transcriptional networks to establish tissue residency, location-specific factors adapt these cells to their tissue of lodgment. Here we analyze T cell heterogeneity between organs and find that the different environments in which these cells differentiate dictate T cell function, durability and malleability.

Phase 1 dose-escalation and pharmacokinetic study of regorafenib in paediatric patients with recurrent or refractory solid malignancies.

Background: This phase 1 study evaluated safety, pharmacokinetics (PK), maximum tolerated dose (MTD), and antitumour activity of regorafenib in paediatric patients with solid tumours.

Patients And Methods: Patients (aged 6 months to <18 years) with recurrent/refractory solid tumours received oral regorafenib once daily for 3 weeks on/1 week off. The starting dose (60 mg/m) was derived from an adult physiology-based PK model and scaled to children; dose escalation was followed by safety expansion of the MTD cohort.

Objectives: Numerous studies on malignant mesothelioma (MM) highlight the prognostic importance of histologic subtype, nuclear grade, and necrosis. This study compares these parameters in paired biopsy and resection specimens of pleural MM.

Methods: Histologic subtype, percentage of epithelioid morphology, nuclear grade, and the presence or absence of necrosis were compared in 429 paired biopsies and resection specimens of pleural MM from 19 institutions.

Long-distance migrations are among the most physically demanding feats animals perform. Understanding the potential costs and benefits of such behaviour is a fundamental question in ecology and evolution. T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (T-PLL) is mostly characterized by aberrant expansion of small- to medium-sized prolymphocytes with a mature post-thymic phenotype, high aggressiveness of the disease and poor prognosis. However, T-PLL is more heterogeneous with a wide range of clinical, morphological, and molecular features, which occasionally impedes the diagnosis. We hypothesized that T-PLL consists of phenotypic and/or genotypic subgroups that may explain the heterogeneity of the disease.

Exhaustion is a dysfunctional state of cytotoxic CD8+ T cells (CTL) observed in chronic infection and cancer. Current in vivo models of CTL exhaustion using chronic viral infections or cancer yield very few exhausted CTL, limiting the analysis that can be done on these cells. Establishing an in vitro system that rapidly induces CTL exhaustion would therefore greatly facilitate the study of this phenotype, identify the truly exhaustion-associated changes and allow the testing of novel approaches to reverse or prevent exhaustion.

Waterborne are a major reservoir of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), including but not limited to extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) and carbapenemase (KPC) mechanisms. This study quantified and described ESBL- and KPC-producing in Northern Colorado from sewer water, surface water, and influent and effluent wastewater treatment sources. Total detected bacteria and abundances, and the percentages that contain ESBL and/or KPC, were compared between water sources.

[Real-time monitoring of anti-influenza vaccination in the 65 and over population in France based on vaccine sales].

Background: The aim of this study was to describe a tool based on vaccine sales to estimate vaccination coverage against seasonal influenza in near real-time in the French population aged 65 and over.

Methods: Vaccine sales data available on sale-day +1 came from a stratified sample of 3004 pharmacies in metropolitan France. Vaccination coverage rates were estimated between 2009 and 2014 and compared with those obtained based on vaccination refund data from the general health insurance scheme.
