Introduction: Addressing childhood obesity risk factors like home environment, parental roles, excess weight, physical activity and healthy eating among Latino/Hispanic (L/H) families living in rural communities is an important priority. However, evidence supporting these interventions among L/H families living in rural communities is missing. Our trial will use cultural adaptation and implementation science frameworks to evaluate the feasibility of delivering a culturally appropriate family-based childhood obesity (FBCO) programme via an automated telephone system (interactive voice response) to L/H families in rural Nebraska.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the effectiveness of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) in relieving dryness symptoms in women with Sjögren's disease through a placebo-controlled trial with 60 participants.
  • Results showed no significant improvements in dryness symptoms or oxidative stress levels with NAC compared to placebo at the 30 and 90-day marks, despite higher NAC blood concentrations in the treatment group.
  • The findings suggest that while NAC can be taken as a rescue therapy for Sjögren's disease, it does not significantly alleviate symptoms of dryness or oxidative stress.

Heterometallic hydride complexes are of growing interest due to their potential to contribute to highly active insertion-based catalysis; however, methods to modulate electron density within this class of molecules are underexplored. Addition of ancillary ligands to heterotrimetallic NiAlH species (1) results in the formation of heterobimetallic NiAl-hydride complexes with varying phosphine donors (2-(L)2). Incorporation of sigma donating ancillary ligands of increasing strength led to contractions of the Ni-Al distances correlated to a strengthening of a back donation interaction to the Al-H sigma antibonding orbital, most prominently present in 2-(PMe3)2.

Background: The literature indicates an increasing interest in the mental health of refugees (R) and asylum seekers (AS) - particularly how it could be affected by previous exposure to trauma and violence - but less has been written about the issues they are forced to face during the post-migration period and how these also can affect mental health. Research shows that the mental health of R/AS is highly influenced by their post-migration conditions and may deteriorate due to post-migration social health-related determinants; in addition, a lack of language skills, discrimination, separation from family, poverty, and other stressors can contribute to social isolation. The difficulty in asking for help in case of psychological distress and, consequently, in accessing care, contributes to the worsening of their clinical condition.
