Childhood family adversities and recurrence of depression in adulthood: finds of three ELSA-Brasil visits.

Objective: To investigate the association between family adversities in childhood and depression in three follow-up visits of a cohort of Brazilian adults.

Methods: A total of 12,636 participants from the Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA-Brasil), who attended three interview/examination visits (2008-2010, 2012-2014, and 2017-2019), were included. Five family dysfunctions and the childhood family dysfunction score (0, 1, and 2+ dysfunctions) were used.

Feasibility of an electronic patient-facing cancer family history tool in medically underserved populations.

Purpose: We developed an electronic patient-facing family history collection tool including B-RST 3.0, PREMM risk assessments and "limited family knowledge/structure" information designed for primary care settings. Introduction: Parents of children with additional needs experience compromised physical and mental health and higher stress, and their ability to engage in meaningful occupations is impacted by their additional caregiving tasks. Online interventions targeting mental health, stress, and well-being for parents of children with additional needs have potential to increase supports alongside occupational therapy direct services. The aims of this review are to systematically identify and synthesise evidence of effectiveness of online interventions aimed at improving mental health, stress, and well-being of parents of children with additional needs.

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is an important clinical tool that obtains high-quality images for assessment of cardiac morphology, function, and tissue characteristics. However, the technique may be prone to artifacts that may limit the diagnostic interpretation of images. This article reviews common artifacts which may appear in CMR exams by describing their appearance, the challenges they mitigate true pathology, and offering possible solutions to reduce their impact.

Methods: Consecutive patients, undergoing their first left atrial (LA) catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, with radiofrequency energy (RF) powers of 20, 30 and 40 W were enrolled.

Unmet needs in the treatment of type 1 diabetes: why is it so difficult to achieve an improvement in metabolic control?

The development of advanced diabetes technology has permitted persons with type 1 diabetes mellitus to improve metabolic control significantly, particularly with the development of advanced hybrid closed-loop systems which have improved the quality of life by reducing hypoglycemia, decreasing macroangiopathy and microangiopathy-related complications, ameliorating HbA1c and improving glycemic variability. Despite the progression made over the past few decades, there is still significant margin for improvement to be made in terms of attaining appropriate metabolic control. Various factors are responsible for poor glycemic control including inappropriate carbohydrate counting, repeated bouts of hypoglycemia, hypoglycemia unawareness, cutaneous manifestations due to localized insulin use and prolonged use of diabetes technology, psychosocial comorbidities such as eating disorders or 'diabulimia', the coexistence of insulin resistance among people with type 1 diabetes and the inability to mirror physiological endogenous pancreatic insulin secretion appropriately.

Methods: This was a single-centre, retrospective study involving 56 T1D patients who transitioned to the Tandem t:slim X2 with Control-IQ system. The primary and secondary endpoints consisted of variations in time in tight range (TiTR; 70-140 mg/dL) and the glycaemia risk index (GRI), respectively.

Despite the growing attention to motivation, less is known about international students' motivational beliefs and attitudes about academic writing. In this study, we aimed to explore the motivational factors influencing international students' performance in academic English classes at a large public research university in the western United States. Specifically, we examined students' self-efficacy, goal orientation, beliefs, and affect for writing, along with their malleability, and their contributions to academic achievement in academic English writing classes.

Autoimmunity in Type 2 Diabetes: When the Only Effective Therapy Becomes Immunosuppressive.

Background: Type B insulin resistance syndrome is a rare form of diabetes due to the presence of anti-insulin receptor antibodies [1, 2], which causes glycemic decompensation and antidiabetic therapy failure and instead responds to immunosuppressive therapy.

Case Report: A 67-year-old patient was admitted to the hospital due to autoimmune hemolytic anemia and glycemic decompensation. We first prescribed subcutaneous basal-bolus insulin and then intravenous insulin without improvement in blood sugar levels (between 300 and 500 mg/dL).

Surveys of health professionals typically have low response rates, which have decreased in recent years. We report on the methods used, participation rates, and study time for 11 national questionnaire studies of dentists conducted from 2014-2022. Participation rates decreased (87%-25%).
