Background: Osimertinib, a third-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), has been authorized for use in patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of neoadjuvant osimertinib in individuals with resectable locally advanced NSCLC harboring EGFR mutation.
Methods: Ten centers located in mainland China took part in a single-arm, real-world, multicenter retrospective study (registration number: ChiCTR2100049954).
Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) poses a substantial healthcare challenge, particularly in areas such as East Asia. The pathologic nodal (pN) stage of ESCC remains a controversial factor. Accurately predicting overall survival (OS) after esophagectomy is crucial for treatment planning and improving treatment outcomes.

However, there is a lack of consensus on the long-term survival outcomes of intrathoracic anastomosis and cervical anastomosis following esophagectomy. This study aims to provide a comprehensive summary of the long-term survival outcomes of these 2 anastomosis techniques.

Surgical resection is still considered the primary curative treatment for this disease. However, the effect of different surgical methods-traditional hand-sewn anastomosis and modern mechanical anastomosis-remains controversial.

The implementation of this concept in selective organic catalysis is achieved by tuning the electronic effects of organic functional groups to alter the corresponding reactivity. However, this approach has hardly been applied to modulate the band structure of inorganic materials.

The preoperative prediction of LVI and PNI has the potential to guide personalized medicine strategies for patients with esophageal squamous cell cancer (ESCC). This study investigates whether radiomics features derived from preoperative contrast-enhanced CT could predict LVI and PNI in ESCC patients.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFew predictive biomarkers exist for identifying patients who may benefit from neoadjuvant therapy (NAT). The intratumoral microbial composition is comprehensively profiled to predict the efficacy and prognosis of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) who underwent NAT and curative esophagectomy. Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression analysis is conducted to screen for the most closely related microbiota and develop a microbiota-based risk prediction (MRP) model on the genera of TM7x, Sphingobacterium, and Prevotella.

Methods: This single-center retrospective study included prospective PRO data from August 2019 to June 2021. Clinical outcomes included perioperative complications and postoperative length of stay (PLOS).
Background: Minimally invasive esophagectomy is the first-line approach for esophageal cancer; however, there has recently been a paradigm shift toward robotic esophagectomy (RE). We investigated the clinical outcomes of patients who underwent RE compared with those of patients who underwent conventional minimally invasive thoracoscopic esophagectomy (TE) for locally advanced cT3 or cT4 esophageal cancer using a propensity-matched analysis.
Methods: Overall, 342 patients with locally advanced cT3 or cT4 esophageal cancer underwent transthoracic esophagectomy with total mediastinal lymph node dissection between 2018 and 2022.
Objective: The choice of neoadjuvant therapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is controversial. This study aims to provide a basis for clinical treatment selection by establishing a predictive model for the efficacy of neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy (NICT).
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 30 patients was conducted, divided into Response and Non-response groups based on whether they achieved major pathological remission (MPR).
Purpose: With the rising life expectancy and an aging population, it has become increasingly important to investigate treatments suitable for older adult patients with esophageal cancer. This study investigated whether older adult patients who underwent esophagectomy had better clinical outcomes than those who were nonsurgically treated.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) who were 70 years or older and underwent esophagectomy, radiotherapy (RT), and/or chemoradiotherapy (CRT) between January 2018 and December 2019.
Background: Esophageal cancer (EC) is a major global health burden, with a particularly high incidence in East Asia. The authors aimed to investigate the effect of metastasis in cervical paraesophageal lymph nodes (station 101) and supraclavicular lymph nodes (station 104) on the survival of patients who underwent esophagectomy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).
Materials And Methods: Data were obtained from the database of the authors' hospital.
Objectives: Mediastinal neoplasms are typical but uncommon thoracic diseases with increasing incidence and unfavorable prognoses. A comprehensive understanding of their spatiotemporal distribution is essential for accurate diagnosis and timely treatment. However, previous studies are limited in scale and data coverage.

We evaluated longitudinal patient-reported outcomes (PROs) to analyze the correlations between symptoms and QOL and their changing characteristics during postoperative rehabilitation.
Methods: We investigated patients with ESCC who underwent minimally invasive McKeown esophagectomy at Sichuan Cancer Hospital between April 2019 and December 2019.
Background: The morbidity and mortality rates of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) are high in China. The overall survival (OS) of patients with ESCC is related to lymph node (LN) metastasis (LNM). This study aimed to discuss the impact of metastasis in LN stations on the OS of patients with pathologic N1 (pN1) ESCC.

However, the factors influencing tumor response and long-term survival in these patients remain unknown. The optimal timing for surgery after the completion of radiotherapy in LA-ESCC remains controversial.
