This study examined the effects of incorporating milk protein concentrate (MPC) or pea or soy proteins isolates (PPI and SPI) on the physicochemical, sensory properties, and AA composition of ice creams containing 7% protein, compared with dairy ice cream as a reference. As protein ingredients, PPI exhibited higher water- and oil-holding capacity but lower surface hydrophobicity than SPI and MPC. The viscosity of the mixes was proportional to the firmness of the ice cream, and both were highest with use of PPI.

Objectives: To systematically evaluate the efficacy and superiority of Flunarizine Hydrochloride when combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Decoctions in treating migraine headaches.

Method: The authors conducted a comprehensive search for clinical Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) investigating the combination of Flunarizine Hydrochloride with Chinese herbal decoctions in treating migraines. The databases searched included CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, PubMed, WOI, Cochrane Library, and Embase, covering the period from January 1, 2019, to November 10, 2023.

Objective: Diagnosis of lupus nephritis (LN) is a complex process, which usually requires renal biopsy. We aim to establish a machine learning pipeline to help diagnosis of LN.

Methods: A cohort of 681 systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients without LN and 786 SLE patients with LN was established, and a total of 95 clinical, laboratory data and 17 meteorological indicators were collected.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tacrolimus-based treatment for immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN). We retrospectively reviewed 127 adult patients with primary IgAN with 24 h urine total protein quantity (24 h UTP) ≥ 1 g and serum creatinine ≤3 mg/dL. All patients were divided into tacrolimus (TAC) and control (non-TAC) groups according to the treatment strategy.

Identification of upregulated NF-κB inhibitor alpha and IRAK3 targeting lncRNA following intracranial aneurysm rupture-induced subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Background: This study was performed to identify genes and lncRNAs involved in the pathogenesis of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) from ruptured intracranial aneurysm (RIA).

Methods: Microarray GSE36791 was downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database followed by the identification of significantly different expressed RNAs (DERs, including lncRNA and mRNA) between patients with SAH and healthy individuals. Then, the functional analyses of DEmRNAs were conducted and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was also performed to extract the modules associated with SAH.

Noninvasive Imaging of Ras Activity by Monomolecular Biosensor Based on Split-Luciferase Complementary Assay.

Deregulated activity of Ras GTPases has been observed in many types of human cancers, and contributes to the diverse aspects of carcinogenesis. Although the significance in tumorigenesis has been widely accepted and many therapeutic drugs are under development, little attention has been dedicated to the development of sensors for the Ras activity in vivo. Therefore, based on the split firefly luciferase complementation strategy, we developed a monomolecular bioluminescent biosensor to image endogenous Ras activity in living subject.

Formulation and Drug Loading Features of Nano-Erythrocytes.

Nano erythrocyte ghosts have recently been used as drug carriers of water-soluble APIs due to inherit biological characteristics of good compatibility, low toxicity, and small side-effect. In this study, we developed a novel drug delivery system based on nano erythrocyte ghosts (STS-Nano-RBCs) to transport Sodium Tanshinone IIA sulfonate (STS) for intravenous use in rat. STS-Nano-RBCs were prepared by hypotonic lysis and by extrusion methods, and its biological properties were investigated compared with STS injection.

BACKGROUND Parkinson's disease (PD) is manifested as degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in substantia nigra compacta. The mitochondrial dysfunction induced by oxidative stress is believed to a major cause of PD. Puerarin has been widely applied due to its estrogen nature and anti-oxidative function.

The analogous imino-variant of the Nazarov reaction suffers from unfavorable energetics associated with the ring closure process, thereby limiting the utility of this class of reactions. In this report, the realization of the first intermolecular interrupted imino-Nazarov reaction utilizing silylated pyrimidine derivatives as nucleophilic trapping partners culminated in an expedient synthetic route to carbocyclic nucleoside analogues. The potential application of silylated nucleobases to intercept the oxyallyl cation in other variants of the Nazarov reaction provides vast opportunities to develop new strategies for the formation of carbocyclic nucleoside analogues.

A highly efficient dual catalysis approach for C-glycosylation: addition of (o-azaaryl)carboxaldehyde to glycals.

A novel and efficient dual catalysis approach by concurrent activation of glycals and (o-azaaryl)-carboxaldehydes using palladium and N-heterocyclic carbene has been developed. The two electrophiles could react after activation through formation of the Breslow intermediate and a π-allyl Pd complex, widening the scope of reacting glycosylation partners and opening up possibilities for future glycosylation.

Associations between XPD Asp312Asn polymorphism and risk of head and neck cancer: a meta-analysis based on 7,122 subjects.

Background: To investigate the association between XPD Asp312Asn polymorphism and head and neck cancer risk through this meta-analysis.

Methods: We performed a meta-analysis of 9 published case-control studies including 2,670 patients with head and neck cancer and 4,452 controls. An odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) was applied to assess the association between XPD Asp312Asn polymorphism and head and neck cancer risk.

Formulation and evaluation of less-painful clarithromycin lipid microspheres.

Lipid microspheres (LMs) have recently been use as drug carriers for intravenous use due to its low toxicity, good physiological tolerance and the reduction of the drug related side-effect.
