Background: Epstein-Barr virus-associated gastric cancer (EBVaGC) is characterized by higher lymphocytic infiltration, which predicts sensitivity to immunotherapy. However, there are few studies investigating the mechanisms of acquired resistance to programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) blockade and its subsequent treatment strategies for EBVaGC.
Case Description: We describe the case of a patient with EBVaGC who was initially treated with first-line chemotherapy plus Sintilimab, a fully humanized anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody, resulting in a near-complete response.
In this study, the absolute electrostatic charge of myofibrillar protein (MP) was substantially increased by protein-glutaminase (PG) treatment, which was a critical step for achieving the dissociation and solubility of MP under low salt condition. The PG-treated MP exhibited the capacity to form thermo-reversible gels that could be melted through heating and subsequently reformed into a stable gel structure upon refrigeration. The results of SDS-PAGE further revealed that the levels of soluble monomeric myosin and actin in the supernatant of deamidated MP (DMP) gels were markedly elevated, and confirmed the increased formation of intermolecular disulfide bond between myosin and actin.

Antithyroid drugs can cause neutropenia or agranulocytosis, rarely pancytopenia in hyperthyroidism therapy. The treatment is difficult and lethality is high when granulocytopenia or pancytopenia combined with hyperthyroidism crisis. First Affiliated Hospital of Army Medical University treated a patient who had pancytopenia caused by methimazole with systemic lupus erythematosus, secondary hyperthyroidism crisis and agranulocytosis.

We hypothesized that a higher number of altered oncogenic signaling pathways [pathway alteration load (PAL)] would reduce the benefit of TT which only intervenes in one pathway. This hypothesis was tested in the Drug Rediscovery Protocol (DRUP).

This work comprehensively compared the degradation of sulfadiazine (SDZ), sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and sulfathiazole (STZ) under UV light in peracetic acid (PAA) from both experimental and theoretical aspects, as they represent two structural classes based on substituent differences. The two SAs with five-membered heterocyclic substituents (SMX, STZ) generally decomposed at faster rates, with SMX degrading up to 10 times faster than SDZ (pH = 3; PAA dosage = 80 mg/L).

Research on the degradation of saturated chlorinated hydrocarbons such as 1,2,3-trichloropropane (1,2,3-TCP), by Fe(VI) is limited. In this study, we investigated the degradation of 1,2,3-TCP by Fe(VI).

In this study, a lignocellulosic-templated BiVO photocatalyst was fabricated from BiVO precursor and lignocellulose using a simple vacuum impregnation (w/o heat treatment on wood template). Results showed that the modified template retained original hierarchical structure with an increased specific surface area and reduced hemicellulose content, leading to a promising template for uniform distribution of BiVO.

To optimize anesthesia efficacy, this study explores the application of combined anesthesia (general anesthesia combined with thoracic paravertebral block) in such surgeries. We evaluated the improvement of pulmonary oxygenation function, hemodynamic stability, and respiratory compliance in elderly lung cancer patients undergoing pulmonary lobectomy with combined anesthesia.

Purpose: The primary cause of pulp and periapical diseases is the invasion of bacteria into the root canal, which results from the continuous destruction of dental hard tissues. Effective management of infections during root canal therapy necessitates effectively irrigation. This study aims to investigate the effects of two antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), buCaTHL4B and Im-4, on root canal biofilms .

However, the association of β2-MG with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in T2DM patients remains unknown. This study aims to investigate the correlation between serum β2-MG and LVH in T2DM patients.

As protein ingredients, PPI exhibited higher water- and oil-holding capacity but lower surface hydrophobicity than SPI and MPC. The viscosity of the mixes was proportional to the firmness of the ice cream, and both were highest with use of PPI.

Purpose: The treatment efficacy of nivolumab was evaluated in patients with advanced, treatment-refractory solid mismatch repair deficiency/microsatellite-instable (dMMR/MSI) tumors, and in-depth biomarker analyses were performed to inform precision immunotherapy approaches.
Patients And Methods: Patients with dMMR/MSI tumors who exhausted standard-of-care treatment options were enrolled in the Drug Rediscovery Protocol, a pan-cancer clinical trial that treats patients with cancer based on their tumor molecular profile with off-label anticancer drugs (NCT02925234). Patients received nivolumab (four cycles of 240 mg every 2 weeks, thereafter 480 mg every 4 weeks).
As a Japanese graphic symbol widely used in the world, Emoji plays an important role in computer mediated communication. Despite its prevalent use, the interaction dynamics between emoji and textual sentences remain inadequately explored. Based on the emotional function of emoji, this study uses the indirect priming method to explore the emotional impact of emoji on subsequent text in computer mediated communication through two progressive behavioral experiments.

Methods: RNA-seq studies and chromatin immunoprecipitation (Chip) assays were performed to identify ZEB1-regulated lncRNAs.
Objectives: To systematically evaluate the efficacy and superiority of Flunarizine Hydrochloride when combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Decoctions in treating migraine headaches.
Method: The authors conducted a comprehensive search for clinical Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) investigating the combination of Flunarizine Hydrochloride with Chinese herbal decoctions in treating migraines. The databases searched included CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, PubMed, WOI, Cochrane Library, and Embase, covering the period from January 1, 2019, to November 10, 2023.
In this study, we successfully obtained a novel source protein glutaminase PG5 with specific activity of 10.4 U/mg, good tolerance and broad substrate profile through big data retrieval. Structural analysis and site-directed mutagenesis revealed that the catalytic pocket of Mature-PG5 contained a large number of aromatic amino acids and hydrophobic amino acids, and that Ser72 greatly affects the properties of the catalytic pocket and the affinity of PG5 for the substrate.
