Methods: a pilot-validation study divided into two phases was performed in a north-eastern Italian outpatient chemotherapy centre. A series of novel 5-arylidene-2-thioxoimidazolidin-4-ones were investigated as inhibitors of the lymphocyte-expressed pore-forming protein perforin. Structure-activity relationships were explored through variation of an isoindolinone or 3,4-dihydroisoquinolinone subunit on a fixed 2-thioxoimidazolidin-4-one/thiophene core. The ability of the resulting compounds to inhibit the lytic activity of both isolated perforin protein and perforin delivered in situ by natural killer cells was determined.

Materials And Methods: Files of all children less than 2 years old with the diagnosis of non-accidental head trauma over a 10-years period were systematically reviewed. We collected data on demographic information, medical history, clinical status, and management in the PICU.
Optic pathway gliomas are rare tumors accounting for 3-5% of brain tumors in children; 90% are observed in children. They account for 4% of orbital tumors in children. Association with NF 1 is classical and the incidence of NF 1 in patients with optic pathway gliomas is estimated at 30-58%.

We report the case of a 6-year-old female who presented a cervical intradural extra-spinal tumor, initially considered as a Langerhans cell histiocytosis. Additional histological slides revealed a Dirofilaria repens dirofilariasis.
