The study aimed to compare the effectiveness and safety of laparoscopic total extraperitoneal prosthetic (TEP) versus Lichtenstein herniorrhaphy for treating inguinal hernias in 158 patients.
Both surgical groups had similar baseline characteristics and no significant complications, with the operative times being comparable.
However, the TEP group showed advantages with less intraoperative blood loss, shorter postoperative recovery time, and a reduced length of hospital stay compared to the Lichtenstein group.
