Interleukin-33 (IL-33) is a nuclear factor and member of the IL-1 cytokine family. IL-33 is mainly expressed by epithelial and endothelial cells and exerts its function through interaction with various immune cells, and binding to its receptor can form the IL-33/Suppression of tumorigenicity 2 (ST2) signaling pathway. While most cytokines are actively synthesized within cells, IL-33 is produced passively in response to tissue damage or cell necrosis, indicating its role as a signaling molecule following cellular infection, stress, or trauma.

The presence of lymph node (LN) metastases guides cancer staging and worsens prognoses. Incomplete lymphadenectomy of metastatic LNs may end up with disease recurrence, while excessive resection can result in increased postoperative complications with even no survival benefit. Thus, effective non-invasive methods to treat metastatic LNs would be highly desirable.

Superhydrophobic surfaces have attracted tremendous attention due to their intriguing lotus-leaf-like water-repelling phenomenon and wide applications, however, most superhydrophobic coatings are prepared with environmentally unfriendly organic solvents and suffer from poor mechanical strength. To solve these issues, waterborne recoatable superhydrophobic (WRSH) coatings are developed based on a novel self-synthesized water-soluble fluorinated acrylic polymer and hydrophobic modified silica nanoparticles. The trade-off between waterborne and superhydrophobicity is well mediated by protonation and deprotonation of the fluorinated acrylic polymer.

Neuroinflammation is a key factor in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). Activated microglia in the central nervous system (CNS) and infiltration of peripheral immune cells contribute to dopaminergic neuron loss. However, the role of peripheral immune responses, particularly triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (TREM-1), in PD remains unclear.

Lymph node metastasis significantly affects the NSCLC patients' staging, treatment strategy, and prognosis. Studies have shown that IGF2BP3, an oncofetal protein and an m6A reader, overexpresses and correlates to lymph node metastasis and worse overall survival in histopathological studies including NSCLC, but its mechanism needs further study. This study explored IGF2BP3's function and mechanism in LUAD lymphatic metastasis using public databases, a human LUAD tissue microarray, human LUAD cells, and a lymphatic metastasis model in male BALB/c nude mice.

We have effectively utilized cost-effective 2-bromoanthraquinone as a photocatalyst to develop an efficient and environmentally friendly method for producing -hydroxy lactones under mild visible light irradiation. Importantly, this protocol only relies on oxygen as an oxidant, completely eliminating the need for additional chemical reagents and showcasing a sustainable approach to chemical transformation. Operating at room temperature, we utilized a mixed solvent system of DMF and CHCl, which greatly facilitated the selective conversion of various 2-vinylbenzoic acids and carboxylic acids to functional -hydroxyl lactones.

Although immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapies have shifted the treatment paradigm for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), many patients remain resistant. Here we characterize the tumor cell states and spatial cellular compositions of the NSCLC tumor microenvironment (TME) by analyzing single-cell transcriptomes of 232,080 cells and spatially resolved transcriptomes of tumors from 19 patients before and after ICB-chemotherapy. We find that tumor cells and secreted phosphoprotein 1-positive macrophages interact with collagen type XI alpha 1 chain-positive cancer-associated fibroblasts to stimulate the deposition and entanglement of collagen fibers at tumor boundaries, obstructing T cell infiltration and leading to poor prognosis.
