Background: Salivary duct carcinoma (SDC) is a highly aggressive salivary gland malignancy with poor prognosis. The aim was to investigate the prognostic factors and survival outcomes in a cohort of SDC patients.

Materials And Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinicopathological data of 61 SDC patients treated at the First Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital between January 2010 and December 2020.

Objective: We aimed to develop an AI-based model that uses a portable electronic oral endoscope to capture intraoral images of patients for the detection of oral cancer.

Subjects And Methods: From September 2019 to October 2023, 205 high-quality annotated images of oral cancer were collected using a portable oral electronic endoscope at the Chinese PLA General Hospital for this study. The U-Net and ResNet-34 deep learning models were employed for oral cancer detection.

Objectives: This paper aims to investigate the application of intraoral scanning and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) registration implant robot in dental implant surgery.

Methods: The data of 40 cases with dental defect of robot-assisted implantation from November 2023 to May 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. Before the operation, the intraoral scan data and CBCT data of the positioning markers were automatically fused with the initial CBCT images, and the registration error was calculated.

Context: While they play an increasingly important role in medication safety, nursing staff in an infusion preparation center also face high work intensity and high occupational-exposure risks. Psychological capital for nurses manifests as ab ability to overcome difficulties; nurses' perceptions of occupational benefits can enable them to think and function in a constructive and rational way in a clinical environment; and job satisfaction can influence the nursing quality.

Objective: The study intended to investigate and analyze the influence of group training based on psychological capital theory on the nursing staff's psychological capital, occupational benefits, and job satisfaction in an infusion preparation center.

Objective: The etiology of apical diseases is diverse, and most are due to incomplete root canal therapy. The common clinical manifestations include gingival abscess, fistula and bone destruction. The currently existing limitation of procedures is that surgeons cannot visually evaluate the surgical areas.

Objectives: We assessed the potential prognostic significance of the preoperative systemic inflammation index, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in patients who underwent surgical resection.

Subjects And Methods: This retrospective study included 224 patients with clinicopathologically confirmed squamous carcinoma of the tongue who underwent surgery between August 2009 and December 2017. The optimal cut-off values for the indices were determined by receiver operating characteristic curves.

Article Synopsis
  • Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a common cancer in the mouth, and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) like PANDAR may play crucial roles in its development.
  • In our study, we found that PANDAR is highly expressed in OSCC cells, and when we silenced it, the cancer cells showed reduced growth and increased apoptosis (cell death).
  • PANDAR interacts with a protein called SRSF7, which in turn regulates another protein, PIM1, suggesting that PANDAR promotes OSCC progression by increasing PIM1 expression through SRSF7.

Background: Interstitial brachytherapy (BT) is becoming an accepted treatment option for head and neck cancer patients for whom surgery poses high risks. Multimodal, image-guided, robotic surgery has the potential to allow precise seed implantation into tumors. Our aim was to introduce a new multimodal, image-guided surgical robot during the performance of interstitial BT for the treatment of tumors in the head and neck regions.

Objective: The current study aimed to investigate the functional roles and clinical significance of microRNA-148a (miR-148a) in the progression of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).

Methods: Relative expression of miR-148a in OSCC cells and tissues were detected using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Chi-square test was performed to estimate the relationship between miR-148a expression and clinical characteristics of OSCC patients.

Our study was designed to construct nomograms to predict the overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) of lip carcinoma patients.A search of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database provided us with detailed clinical data of the 1780 lip carcinoma patients. On the basis of the credible random split-sample method, the 1780 patients were placed into 2 groups, with 890 patients in the modeling group and 890 patients in the counterpart's group (proportion = 1:1).

The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes of ultrasonic surgery to the conventional bone cutting technique using bur and saw for the release of ankylosis of temporomandibular joint. We conducted a prospective cohort study on 25 patients with 38 ankylotic joints at Chinese PLA General Hospital from March 01, 2012 to March 01, 2016. Patients were followed up at least 2 years postoperatively.

Background: Detection of DNA methylome at single-base resolution is a significant challenge but promises to shed considerable light on human disease etiology. Current technologies could not detect DNA methylation genome-wide at single-base resolution with small amount of sequencing data and could not avoid detecting the methylation of repetitive elements which are considered as "junk DNA".

Methods: In this study, we have developed a novel DNA methylome profiling technology named MB-seq with its ability to identify genome-wide 5mC and quantify DNA methylation levels by introduced an assistant adapter AluI-linker This linker can be ligated to sonicated DNA and then be digested after the bisulfite treatment and amplification, which has no effect of MeDIP enrichment.
