Background: Previous research has highlighted the multifactorial nature of awake bruxism (AB), including its associations with stress, anxiety and other psychological factors. Dispositional mindfulness, known for its benefits in enhancing emotional regulation and reducing stress, has not yet been thoroughly investigated in association with AB.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate whether levels of dispositional mindfulness predict the efficacy of ecological momentary intervention (EMI) in reducing the frequency of AB behaviours.
Chemotherapy-provoked peripheral neuropathy and its associated affective disorders are important adverse effects in cancer patients, and its treatment is not completely resolved. A recent study reveals a positive interaction between molecular hydrogen (H) and a heme oxygenase (HO-1) enzyme inducer, cobalt protoporphyrin IX (CoPP), in the inhibition of neuropathic pain provoked by nerve injury. Nevertheless, the efficacy of CoPP co-administered with hydrogen-rich water (HRW) on the allodynia and emotional disorders related to paclitaxel (PTX) administration has not yet been assessed.

Background: Chronic pain is persistent or recurrent pain lasting longer than 3 months. The experience of temporomandibular disorder (TMD)-related pain is modulated by emotional and social factors, with mindfulness encapsulating these aspects.
Objective: To investigate the association between cognitive-behavioural-emotional characteristics, mindfulness and the painful experience in women with chronic pain-related TMD.
Depending on its duration and severity, stress may contribute to neuropsychiatric diseases such as depression and anxiety. Studies have shown that stress impacts the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, but its downstream molecular, behavioral, and nociceptive effects remain unclear. We hypothesized that a 2-hour single exposure to acute restraint stress (ARS) activates the HPA axis and changes DNA methylation, a molecular mechanism involved in the machinery of stress regulation.

Background: Panic-like reactions elicited by electrical stimulation of the dorsal periaqueductal grey matter (ES-dPAG) seem to be regulated by dopamine (DA). We showed that DA applied intranasally (IN) increased escape-behaviour thresholds induced by ES-dPAG of rats, indicating a panicolytic-like effect.
Aims: We investigated whether IN-DA increases escape-response thresholds induced by ES-dPAG by acting on D-like receptors, and whether IN-DA affects escape responses elicited by the presence of a potential predator and by open space and height of the elevated T-maze (ETM) as well as motor performance in the open field (OF) test.
Chronic pain increases the risk of developing anxiety, with limbic areas being likely neurological substrates. Despite high clinical relevance, little is known about the precise behavioral, hormonal, and brain neuroplastic correlates of anxiety in the context of persistent pain. Previous studies have shown that decreased nociceptive thresholds in chronic pain models are paralleled by anxiety-like behavior in rats, but there are conflicting ideas regarding its effects on the stress response and circulating corticosterone levels.
