- Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most common cancer globally, and the relationship between interleukin 28B (IL-28B) polymorphisms and HCC has been explored, but results are mixed.
- This study analyzed the connection between specific IL-28B polymorphisms in 180 Iranian individuals (60 with HCC and 120 healthy controls) using PCR-RFLP and SNPstats.
- The results showed no significant association between the IL-28B polymorphisms and HCC, indicating that these genetic variants do not increase the risk of HCC in this Iranian population.
