Lower limb amputation is a common orthopedic surgery in the United States and can be performed either above or below the knee. Prosthetics are typically externally fitted to the patient's residual stump; however, osseointegrated implants offer a potential alternative to this process. Transcutaneous limb osseointegration involves the intramedullary anchoring of an implant that can later attach to a prosthetic via a stoma in the residual limb.

Case: Proximal humerus fractures are a relatively common injury, making up approximately 5 % of all extremity fractures. Concurrent damage to the axillary artery, however, is not a commonly associated trauma. We present a unique case of a proximal humerus fracture-dislocation resulting in an axillary artery dissection and upper extremity ischemia, requiring emergent vascular intervention.
