Case report: Successful IVF programme after conservatively treated endometrial cancer.

Some cases of successful pregnancy after conservative endometrial cancer management have been reported. This paper presents such a case, an infertile patient with conservatively treated endometrial cancer (stage 1a grade 1) who conceived and carried a successful pregnancy after IVF treatment. The conservative treatment consisted of hysteroscopic biopsies and oral megestrol acetate 600 mg daily for 3 months.

Minimal invasive laparoscopic hysterectomy with ultrasonic scalpel.

Background: The purpose of the study was to assess whether total laparoscopic hysterectomy with the ultrasonic scalpel offers advantages in term of intraoperative and postoperative outcomes over the conventional abdominal hysterectomy.

Methods: A case-control study to compare patients undergoing total laparoscopic hysterectomy and women undergoing abdominal hysterectomy for benign conditions was designed. Matching criteria were the menopausal status, the need of adnexectomy, and the uterus weight.

[Use of a GnRH analogue (leuprorelin) in the therapy of endometriosis].

Background: Endometriosis is undoubtedly an extremely complex disease from both a diagnostic and therapeutic point of view. The finding that the continuous administration of GnRH analogs suppresses gonadotropin release by the hupophysis, thus blocking ovary function, has promoted researchers to use these drugs in the treatment of endometriosis.

Aim: Having reviewed the data reported in the literature, the authors selected from the numerous drugs used to resolve implants (oestroprogestogens, danazol, progestogens, clomiphene citrata, GnRH analogs), a GnRH analog with a depot action known as leuprorelin (D-Leu6-Pro9-NH-Ethylamide).
