Highly ordered ultrathin nanosheets (NSs) of Au(I)-Cys were fabricated through aggregation-induced supramolecular self-assembly triggered by an extended agitation in an alkaline environment. The synthesized Au(I)-Cys NSs exhibited intense luminescence and exceptional chirality. Remarkably, additions of biothiols to Au(I)-Cys NSs have significantly enhanced their luminescence emission, and circular dichroism properties coupled with morphological modulations into nanoflowers, nanodendrites, or closely packed aggregates.

Due to the sulfur's atoms' propensity to form molecules and/or polymeric chains of various sizes and configuration, elemental sulfur possesses more allotropes and polymorphs than any other element at ambient conditions. This variability of the starting building blocks is partially responsible for its rich and fascinating phase diagram, with pressure and temperature changing the states of sulfur from insulating molecular rings and chains to semiconducting low- and high-density amorphous configurations to incommensurate superconducting metallic atomic phase. Here, using a fast compression technique, we demonstrate that the rapid pressurisation of liquid sulfur can effectively break the molecular ring structure, forming a glassy polymeric state of pure-chain molecules (Am-S).

The objective of this study was to explore the potential of machine-learning techniques in the automatic identification and classification of brain metastases from a radiomic perspective, aiming to improve the accuracy of tumor volume assessment for radiotherapy. By using various machine-learning algorithms, including random forest, support vector machine, gradient boosting machine, XGBoost, decision tree, artificial neural network, k-nearest neighbors, LightGBM, and CatBoost algorithms, a stacking ensemble model was developed to classify gross tumor volume (GTV), brainstem, and normal brain tissue based on radiomic features. Multiple evaluation metrics, including the specificity, sensitivity, negative predictive value, positive predictive value, accuracy, Matthews correlation coefficient, and the Youden index, were used to assess the model's performance.

The growth habit (GH), also named the branching habit, is an important agronomic trait of peanut and mainly determined by the lateral branch angle (LBA). The branching habit is closely related to peanut mechanized farming, pegging, yield, and disease management. However, the molecular basis underlying peanut LBA needs to be uncovered.

Searching for lightweight and high-temperature stable electromagnetic wave-absorbing materials with broad absorbing bandwidth and high efficiency is of significance for applications in daily life and industry. Optimizing the dielectric properties of SiC nanowire aerogel by both compositional and structural designs is an efficient way to obtain simultaneous efficient wave-dissipation ability and good impendence matching and thus the desired properties. However, due to the complex effects of dielectric parameters on the wave-absorbing properties, rational design of high-performance electromagnetic wave-absorbing materials remains challenging.

This study systematically investigated three influential factors-water-to-binder ratio, cement/sand ratio, and steel fiber content-that significantly impact the performance of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC). Utilizing the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) with a Central Composite Design (CCD), 20 carefully designed mix proportions underwent comprehensive experimental testing. Through rigorous statistical analysis, models were established to elucidate the complex relationships between the specified factors and the overall properties of UHPC.

Aeromonas hydrophila infection is a severe, acute, and life-threatening disease affecting grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) in aquaculture. Ferroptosis is a novel form of cell death characterized by the accumulation of free iron and harmful lipid peroxides within cells. While selenomethionine (Se-Met) is known to effectively inhibit ferroptosis and alleviate cell damage, its ability to counteract oxidative stress and ferroptosis induced by A.

Swine wastewater application can introduce antibiotics, antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) into environments. Herein, the full-scale transmission of antibiotics, ARGs and their potential carriers from an intensive swine feedlot to its surroundings were explored. Results showed that lincomycin and doxycycline hydrochloride were dominant antibiotics in this ecosystem.

Microneedles (MNs), characterized by their micron-sized sharp tips, can painlessly penetrate the skin and have shown significant potential in disease treatment and biosensing. With the development of artificial intelligence (AI), the design and application of MNs have experienced substantial innovation aided by machine learning (ML). This review begins with a brief introduction to the concept of ML and its current stage of development.

Atropisomeric biaryls bearing carbonyl groups have attracted increasing attention due to their prevalence in diverse bioactive molecules and crucial role as efficient organo-catalysts or ligands in asymmetric transformations. However, their preparation often involves tedious multiple steps, and the direct synthesis via asymmetric carbonylation has scarcely been investigated. Herein, we report an efficient palladium-catalyzed enantioconvergent aminocarbonylation of racemic heterobiaryl triflates with amines via dynamic kinetic asymmetric transformation (DyKAT).

Environmental plastic fragments have been verified as byproducts of large plastic and its secondary pollutants including micro and nanoplastics. There are few quantitative studies available, but their contours have values for the weathering mechanisms. We used geometric descriptors, fractal dimensions, and Fourier descriptors to characterize field and artificial polyethylene and polypropylene samples as a means of investigating the contour characteristics.

Herein, we report a synergistic photoredox/palladium catalytic system for the efficient enantioconvergent synthesis of axially chiral esters from racemic heterobiaryl (pseudo)halides (bromides/triflates) with CO and alkyl bromides under mild conditions. A wide range of axially chiral esters were obtained in good to high yields with excellent enantioselectivities. Detailed mechanistic studies unveiled that the ratio of photocatalyst and palladium catalyst exhibited significant impact on the chemo- and enantioselectivities of the reaction.

Ultrasmall metallic nanoclusters (NCs) protected by surface ligands represent the most promising catalytic materials; yet understanding the structure and catalytic activity of these NCs remains a challenge due to dynamic evolution of their active sites under reaction conditions. Herein, we employed a single-nanoparticle collision electrochemistry method for real-time monitoring of the dynamic electrocatalytic activity of a single fully ligand-protected Au(PPh)(SCHPh)Cl nanocluster (Au NC) at a cavity carbon nanoelectrode toward the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Our experimental results and computational simulations indicated that the reversible depassivation and passivation of ligands on the surface of the Au NC, combined with the dynamic conformation evolution of the Au core, led to a characteristic current signal that involves "ON-OFF" switches and "ON" fluctuations during the ORR process of a single Au NC.
