Background: Inflammation-related biomarkers, such as systemic inflammation score (SIS) and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), are associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. However, the combined role of SIS, NLR, and clinicopathological factors in stage II/III colorectal cancer remains unclear. This study developed a nomogram to predict long-term prognosis for these patients.

The weakening/loss of the stop coda in checked tone syllables (also known as "Ru syllable opening") may lead to a subsequent merger of tonal contrasts in Chinese. This study examined the role of acoustic cues in checked-unchecked tone merging in the Qixian Jin dialect by comparing three age groups. Results showed that duration served as a robust cue for the tonal contrast regardless of age, whereas glottalization did not.

Here we report a metal- and light-free decarboxylative functionalization approach enabled by reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) analogues. The efficient and operationally simple approach, conducted in 5 minutes from in situ preparation of aryliodine (III) dicarboxylates under open-air and ambient conditions, enables diverse bond formation and exhibits a broad substrate scope of over 70 examples. Late-stage functionalization of drug molecules and natural products further demonstrates the synthetic utility of this method.

In this study, we evaluated the rehabilitative effect of acupuncture on diaphragm function in patients with respiratory insufficiency using meta-analysis and summarised the rules of acupoints through association rules analysis.
Methods: Articles (published from January 2000 to February 2024) were retrieved from the following databases: PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, CNKI, VIP, SinoMed, and Wanfang.
Conductive hydrogels have attracted widespread attention for their promising application prospects in portable and flexible electronic devices. However, hydrogels commonly suffer from problems such as solvent volatilization and freezing at low temperatures. Inspired by tissues such as human muscles, tendons, and ligaments, this study proposes a facile method to produce anisotropic conductive strong and tough eutectogels through directional freezing integrated with solvent substitution (DFSS) strategy.

Objective: We investigated associations between PCP use and PFAS concentrations in prenatal plasma and human milk.

Objective: To analyze the risk factors for postoperative pathological upgrade of prostate cancer patients with single core positive biopsy, and to attempt to build a mathematical model for predicting postoperative pathological upgrade in these cancer patients with single core positive biopsy.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 1 349 patients diagnosed with prostate cancer and undergoing radical prostatectomy at Peking University First Hospital from January 2015 to August 2020. The patients' age, body mass index, clinical stage, prostate imaging reporting and data system (PI-RADS) scores, prostate volume in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), Gleason score of biopsy, serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) before biopsy and operation, surgical method and pathological stage were inclu-ded in the analysis.
Background & Aims: The benefit of postoperative adjuvant transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (pTACE) for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), especially those with Child-Pugh (CP) B, remains controversial. This study aimed to assess the survival benefit of pTACE for HCC patients with CP B.
Methods: Data from 297 HCC patients with CP B7 or B8 were analyzed, dividing them into groups with and without pTACE (70, 23.
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a metabolic disease that occurs during pregnancy. Herein, we investigate G protein-coupled receptor 1 (GPR1) in mediating GDM through the phosphorylation of serine/threonine kinase (AKT) pathway. Thirty pregnant SD rats were grouped into: normal pregnancy control group (NC), GDM model group, and GDM model + high-dose GPR1 antagonist treatment (GDM + Ari) group.

There has been little discussion about the value of electrocardiograms for diagnosing neurally mediated syncope. The aim of this study was to test the predictive value of the isolated very low QRS voltage in tilt-table testing for suspected neurally mediated syncope in a Chinese population.

High temperatures (HT) induce the overaccumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and increase abscisic acid (ABA), thereby inhibiting seed germination. Our previous findings showed that HT induced the burst of reactive nitrogen species (RNS), increasing the S-nitrosylation modification of HFR1, which effectively blocks seed germination.

Flavonoids, such as quercetin, have been reported to exert obvious anti-obesity and lipid-lowering effects in both humans and animal models. However, the precise underlying mechanism remains elusive.

While mutations are associated with long-QT syndrome and type2 diabetes, its function in human pancreatic cells remains controversial. We identified a homozygous mutation (R397W) in an individual with permanent neonatal diabetes melitus (PNDM) without cardiovascular symptoms.

However, FFR is an invasive method that may cause possible complications in the coronary artery and requires expensive equipment, which limits its use. Promising noninvasive diagnostic methods, such as computed tomography angiography-derived FFR (CT-FFR) and the quantitative flow ratio (QFR), have been proposed.

In hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the prognostic impact and pro-metastatic function of LGALS3BP remain unclear. This study evaluated the endogenous LGALS3BP expression in HCC tissue and its association with prognosis.
