Propolis is a natural immunomodulator with anticancer activity. This study investigated the immunomodulatory mechanism and anti-tumor activity of supercritical CO extracts of propolis (SEP) in tumor-bearing immunosuppression mice. We used cyclophosphamide (CTX) to construct the immunosuppressive mice model and then inoculated them with CT26 cells to build the CT26 tumor-bearing immunosuppression mice model.

Background: Co-formulated dolutegravir and lamivudine (DTG/3TC) is recommended as the first-line antiretroviral therapy (ART); however, the data on the viral decay in seminal plasma (SP) and blood plasma (BP), as well as changes in inflammatory biomarkers in BP, remain limited among antiretroviral-naïve people with HIV (PWH) receiving DTG/3TC. A prospective observational cohort study was conducted to compare the impact of DTG/3TC vs. bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (BIC/FTC/TAF) on viral decay kinetics and changes in inflammatory biomarkers in antiretroviral-naïve PWH.

Phosphate (Pi) has an important influence on the water environment and physiological processes. Therefore, developing fluorescent probe for quantitative detection of Pi is crucial for water environment monitoring and human health assessment. This work designed a dual-emission ratio nano-fluorescent probe GCDs/Eu-BDC based on europium-based metal-organic frameworks (Eu-MOFs) and blue carbon dots (GCDs) for multicolor fluorescence detection of Pi.

Background: Cognitive flexibility is a key factor underlying emotion regulation (ER) and mental health. However, the impact of cognitive flexibility on flexible deployment of ER strategies in changing contexts remains unknown. This study investigated the effects of cognitive flexibility on two noteworthy ER constructs (strategy use and flexibility) and examined downstream impacts on negative affect.

  • The study investigates how different furrow-ridge ratios and mulching modes affect soil respiration, hydrothermal factors, and organic carbon mineralization in a potato field located in southern Ningxia.
  • Three furrow-ridge ratios (R1, R2, R3) and three mulching modes (plastic film, straw, degradable plastic) were tested to determine their impact on soil water retention and temperature throughout the potato growth cycle.
  • Results showed that certain combinations, particularly R3 with straw (R3DJ) and R2 furrows, significantly improved soil water storage and respiration rates compared to a control group, highlighting the potential ecological benefits of these practices.

  • Human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) are remnants of ancient retrovirus infections that have been integrated into our DNA, which may have evolved to serve specific human physiological functions despite initially being considered "junk DNA."
  • Recent research highlights that the dysregulation of endogenous retrovirus elements, particularly long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) derived from HERVs, can play significant roles in various human diseases, especially cancer.
  • The review discusses how these lncRNAs may have both tumor-suppressive and oncogenic effects, suggesting their potential as biomarkers and therapeutic targets in cancer research, while also summarizing their roles in normal physiological processes like immune regulation and blood cell formation.

The uranium recovery from high concentration fluorine-containing uranium wastewater is a desired research target in the field of environmental radiochemistry but is very challenging due to the formation of stable uranium fluoride complexes that are quite difficult to extract. By employing surface defect engineering and interfacial heterostructure design, we present here the rational design of an efficient photocatalyst (Ag/WO) for U(VI) uptake from fluorine-containing uranium wastewater without any sacrificial agents. The defect-rich surface of Ag/WO facilitates confined adsorption of uranium, while the introduction of Ag nanoparticles enables both efficient electron-hole separation and a plasmon effect upon light irradiation.

Cereblon (CRBN) has been successfully co-opted to affect the targeted degradation of "undruggable" proteins with immunomodulatory imide drugs (IMiDs). IMiDs act as molecule glues that facilitate ternary complex formation between CRBN and a target protein, leading to ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation. Subtle structural modifications often cause profound and sometimes unpredictable changes in the degradation selectivity.

This study investigates the role of Government Social Media (GSM) in enhancing public engagement with Low-Carbon Practices (LCP) in Japan. Motivated by the need to foster sustainable development and mitigate climate change impacts, this research utilizes negative binomial regression model analyzing 1022 posts from nine Japanese government social media accounts. Our findings reveal that increased media richness negatively correlates with engagement, suggesting that content depth over visual appeal is more effective for LCP-related communication.
