Here, we report that imatinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor of platelet-derived growth factor receptor β (PDGFRβ), impaired growth of lymphoma in both human xenograft and murine allograft models. Lymphoma cells themselves neither expressed PDGFRβ nor were growth inhibited by imatinib.

Latin American and Caribbean countries are struggling to respond to increasing morbidity and death from advanced disease. Health ministries and health-care systems in these countries face many challenges caring for patients with advanced cancer: inadequate funding; inequitable distribution of resources and services; inadequate numbers, training, and distribution of health-care personnel and equipment; lack of adequate care for many populations based on socioeconomic, geographic, ethnic, and other factors; and current systems geared toward the needs of wealthy, urban minorities at a cost to the entire population.

Puma, Noxa and Bim mRNAs were evaluated by real-time quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction, and correlations between their expression levels and CLL prognostic markers were analyzed. Primary CLL samples were treated in vitro with fludarabine to investigate the role of Puma, Noxa and Bim in the response to chemotherapeutic drugs which act through activation of the p53 pathway.

The novelty formula of desulphurization efficiency and the flow rate of flue gas, discharge voltage, reaction enhancement factor, and the flow rate of water were established. It is reported that desulphurization efficiency remarkably increased with the increasing of enhancement factor and discharge voltage at 4000 mg m(-3) of SO₂ and 0.

The title compound, C22H21Cl2NO, is a derivative of mono-carbonyl analogues of curcumin (MACs). The mol-ecule has an E conformation for each of the olefinic bonds. The 1-propyl-piperidin-4-one ring has a distorted chair conformation with the ring N and the C and O atoms of the carbonyl group deviating from the mean plane of the remaining four ring C atoms by 0.

The expression level of PDE7B was markedly higher in MCL patients compared with normal controls (P=0.001), and the higher level of PDE7B expression was associated with unfavorable cytogenetic characteristics in MCL.

Objective: To investigate the incidence of serum immunoglobulin (Ig) paraprotein in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and to explore its clinical associated laboratory features and prognostic implication.
Methods: Serum protein electrophoresis and immunofixation electrophoresis were performed by automatic electrophoresis apparatus to identify serum Ig paraprotein. Immunonephelometry was used to measure serum Ig levels.

This study was aimed to investigate the clinicopathological features, immunophenotype and differential diagnosis of primary gastric peripheral T-cell lymphoma-not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS), so as to promote its early recognition for the clinical and pathological physicians. Four patients with primary gastric PTCL-NOS between September 2008 to October 2011 in our hospital were reviewed retrospectively. Clinical records, histo-morphological features and immunohistochemical markers were analyzed.

Plutella xylostella granulovirus (PlxyGV) contains homologs of 15 Autographa californica MNPV (AcMNPV) late expression factor (lef) genes. The prospective products of 14 PlxyGV lef genes (ie-0 is not included) share 13%-53% amino acid similarity with their corresponding homologs of AcMNPV, among which LEF-9, LEF-8 and P47, three subunits of the virus-encoded RNA polymerase, share 49%, 53% and 46% sequence identity, respectively. In this study, an established transient expression system was used to test the ability of the PlxyGV LEFs to activate an AcMNPV vp39 promoter-driven reporter gene in SF9 cells.
