Objective: Shortening the length of hospital stay (LOS) has become a major challenge for psychiatric hospitals in reducing unnecessary costs and improving the patient healthcare experience. We investigated the key factors associated with a long psychiatric hospitalization.
Method: This was a retrospective study of 8,870 full-time psychiatric hospital stays (6,216 patients) in the Paris Psychiatry Hospital Group, with a discharge in 2022.
An explanation for the origin and number of clumps along the equatorial ring of Supernova 1987A has eluded decades of research. Our linear analysis and hydrodynamic simulations of the expanding ring prior to the supernova reveal that it is subject to the Crow instability between vortex cores. The dominant wave number is remarkably consistent with the number of clumps, suggesting that the Crow instability stimulates clump formation.

The aim of this research is to explore how this screening is performed by physicians and, thus, how it impacts adolescents' care pathways, offering insights into how to improve it through a qualitative study using interpretative phenomenological analysis. Twenty physicians (non-psychiatrist physicians and child and adolescent psychiatrists) involved at various stages in the care pathway were interviewed with semi-structured questionnaires.

By constructing an analogy between vortex rings produced in conventional propulsion systems and rings generated by a shock impinging upon a high-aspect-ratio protrusion along a material interface, we extend classical, constant-density vortex-ring theory to compressible multifluid flows. We further demonstrate saturation of such vortex rings as the protrusion aspect ratio is increased, thus explaining morphological differences observed in practice.

We used data from a multicentre cross-sectional study carried out on 14,431 adolescents from 137 French schools. Logistic regression was used to assess the association between several types of RSB and CCs among the 2680 participants aged 17 years or over who reported sexual intercourse.

Introduction: The bodily expression of psychological disorders is one of the leading motives for consultations in adolescent medicine. The diagnostic entity corresponding to DSM-5 "Somatic symptom and related disorders" is sparsely used in the English-language literature, especially for adolescents. Qualitative studies on this topic mostly concern the experiences of healthcare professionals.

This was especially true during the first epidemic peak in France, which coincided with the national lockdown. The aim of this study was to identify whether a decrease in stroke admissions occurred in spring 2020, by analyzing the evolution of all stroke admissions in France from January 2019 to June 2020.

Theo's clinical observation illustrates the management of a 14-year-old adolescent with unexplained somatic symptoms. His symptoms can be integrated into what the classification of mental illnesses calls a somatic symptom disorder, with a depressive comorbidity. The description of the care pathway shows the gradual acceptance of psychological suffering by the adolescent and his parents in a service where different professionals are involved, with sufficient time for a good therapeutic alliance to be built.

Only two literature reviews over the last five years have been identified about somatoform disorders in children., The present article provides a systematic review of articles in English, which concern "Somatic Symptom and Related Disorders" according to the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual - 5th Edition) among adolescents.

To help the specialized healthcare teams, an expert panel drafted a checklist of topics to be addressed throughout adolescence that are often not covered in subspecialty clinic visits such as peers, coping, adherence, understanding of illness, sexuality, etc., since these topics apply to youth with special healthcare needs.

The diagnostic process, which consists of eliminating other etiologies, can be long, complex, and at risk of medical nomadism. Specialists rely on many clinical elements to orient themselves.

The aim of this systematic review is to summarize characteristics and causes of somatic symptoms and their management in the context of school refusal. Findings of this review may help clinicians in their daily practice.

The pressure on health care staff continues to intensify, accentuated by the confinement (lockdown) of the population and the unprecedented duration of this emergency. Separately and especially together, overwork, degraded conditions of care because of the never-ending emergency, and the risk of exposure to the virus can lead to acute psychological distress or signs of burnout.

Background: Chronic musculoskeletal pain (MSP) is frequent in adolescents and has major medical and social consequences. In many cases, when no cause has been clearly established, this pain may be considered to be chronic idiopathic MSP. Our study seeks to identify general criteria for this type of pain through the experience of professionals from tertiary care centers with expertise in pediatric and adolescent chronic MSP.

The qualitative method is sometimes a more effective alternative for exploring some of these. This method can be defined from its objective, which is to generate theoretical hypotheses, its mandatory consideration of the researcher's subjectivity, and the importance it ascribes to the context of the participants' experience.

Few studies have looked at teenaged girls' representations of this vaccination, even though they are the most concerned by it. This qualitative study explored the experiences and representations of HPV vaccination by adolescent girls seeing doctors at least occasionally.

Several qualitative studies have been carried out into the relational issues in families where a teenager is suffering from obesity. Power struggles, issues related to love, relational distance and family organisation must be taken into account in the care of these teenagers. Work on the intrafamily relational aspects can help to improve the effectiveness of standard treatments.

The multidisciplinary treatment takes into account the teenager's temporality. The duration of the initial treatment must be optimised in order to construct, with the teenager, a project which corresponds to his or her particular difficulties.

Previous National Ignition Facility experiments indicate a reduction in Rayleigh-Taylor instability growth due to high energy fluxes, compared to the shocked energy flux, from radiation and electron heat conduction. In order to better quantify the effects of these energy fluxes, we modified the previous experiment to allow for non-collective x-ray Thomson scattering to measure the electron temperature.

THE CHILD-ADULT TRANSITION FOR PATIENTS SUFFERING FROM EATING DISORDERS.: Eating disorders are chronic and evolutive psychiatric conditions which develop on a continuum between childhood and adulthood. The transition between child, adolescent and then adult care is a period of great vulnerability which may induce drop-out and aggravation of symptoms.

These girls thus have substantial problems of self-esteem. Dietary, lifestyle and behavioural approaches alone cannot address this issue, for they do not apprehend all of the complexity of obesity.
