Background: Multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) are integral to navigating complex patient care. Implementation of MDTs may improve patient outcomes, reduce physician burnout, and decrease hospital costs. Systemic obstacles to optimizing pediatric MDTs remain unexplored.

The association between aberrant salience and psychotic experiences in general population twins, and genetic vulnerability as a modifier.

Background: Previous studies assessing the hypothesis that the construct of 'aberrant salience' is associated with psychosis and psychotic symptoms showed conflicting results. For this reason, the association between measures to index aberrant salience and subclinical psychotic symptoms in a general population sample was analysed. In addition, genetic vulnerability was added to the analysis as a modifier to test the hypothesis that modification by genetic vulnerability may explain variability in the results.

Background: Women have historically been underrepresented in surgical leadership and in specialty organizations. This study longitudinally examines representation of women across committee leadership within the American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA).

Methods: Annual APSA committee chair and vice-chair rosters (2003-2023) were obtained.

Evidence of a developmental shift in the nature of attachment representations: a longitudinal taxometric investigation of secure base script knowledge from middle childhood into adolescence.

Prior research suggests that secure base script knowledge is categorically distributed in middle childhood but becomes dimensionally distributed from late adolescence onward, potentially indicating a developmental shift in the nature of secure base script knowledge. Secure base script knowledge may initially be sparse, giving rise to categorical individual differences, while increased relational experiences later in development might contribute to more elaborated secure base script knowledge and dimensional individual differences. However, the cross-sectional nature of prior research limits inferences about developmental changes.

Prenatal and postnatal evaluation of differences of sex development: a user's guide for clinicians and families.

Purpose Of Review: Differences of sex development (DSD) are a group of chromosomal, gonadal, and anatomic conditions that are not often diagnosed during pregnancy. Families and clinicians need diagnostic guidance that supports all aspects of the care from the prenatal to postnatal period.

Recent Findings: Noninvasive prenatal screening (NIPS) is obtained by sampling cell-free fetal DNA in the mother's bloodstream in the first trimester.

Defining Success in the Delivery of Fertility-Related Care for Patients with Differences of Sex Development.

Introduction: Individuals with differences of sex development (DSD) experience complex, often competing, medical and psychosocial challenges surrounding fertility. The study aimed to characterize how "success" in fertility-related care is conceptualized and attained among individuals with a DSD, their parents or caregivers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.

Methods: As part of a larger study, DSD stakeholders (n = 110) participated in semi-structured interviews covering the clinical care of patients with DSD.

Prevalence and Associated Factors of Burnout in Pediatric General Surgery Fellows.

Introduction: Pediatric surgeons are experiencing burnout at similar rates to other subspecialists; however, little is known about the prevalence of burnout in pediatric general surgery fellows. This study aims to determine the prevalence of burnout in pediatric general surgery trainees.

Methods: The Maslach Burnout Inventory and a survey of personal and training characteristics were distributed to current and recently graduated pediatric surgery fellows.

Novel Approaches to Patients with Differences of Sex Development.

Patients with differences of sex development (DSDs) have complex anatomy and surgical needs related to both Mullerian and non-Mullerian structures. Approaches to vaginal reconstruction for these conditions are guided by individual anatomy, with the goal of establishing unobstructed outflow for the reproductive, urinary, and gastrointestinal tracts. Patients may have anatomy requiring vaginoplasty for either outflow tract obstruction or chosen sexual function.

Purpose: Antegrade colonic enemas (ACE) can be an effective management option for defecation disorders and improve quality of life. Best practice regarding channel placement is unclear and variation may exist around preferred initial type of channel, age at placement, and underlying diagnoses. We aimed to describe practice patterns and patient characteristics around ACE channel placement.

Methods: We developed a best-worst scaling survey administered to 520 DSD stakeholders, including individuals or family members of those with DSD, health care specialists, and patient support and advocacy representatives. Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the link between parenting and parents' perspectives on health-related decision making for adolescents. During adolescence, there is a gradual increase in responsibility and autonomy, which influences parenting behavior and child development. Understanding how parenting is associated with parents' views on medical decision making is crucial in the context of the parent-child-physician triad.

Direct Observation of Sub-Poissonian Temporal Statistics in a Continuous Free-Electron Beam with Subpicosecond Resolution.

We present a novel method to measure the arrival time statistics of continuous electron beams with subpicosecond resolution, based on the combination of an rf deflection cavity and fast single electron imaging. We observe Poissonian statistics within time bins from 100 to 2 ns and increasingly pronounced sub-Poissonian statistics as the time bin decreases from 2 ps to 340 fs. This 2D streak camera, in principle, enables femtosecond-level arrival time measurements, paving the way to observing Pauli blocking effects in electron beams and thus serving as an essential diagnostic tool toward degenerate electron beam sources for free-electron quantum optics.

Platelet proteomic profiling in sitosterolemia suggests thrombocytopenia is driven by lipid disorder and not platelet aberrations.

Sitosterolemia is a rare autosomal recessive genetic disorder in which patients develop hypercholesterolemia and may exhibit abnormal hematologic and/or liver test results. In this disease, dysfunction of either ABCG5 or ABCG8 results in the intestinal hyperabsorption of all sterols, including cholesterol and, more specifically, plant sterols or xenosterols, as well as in the impaired ability to excrete xenosterols into the bile. It remains unknown how and why some patients develop hematologic abnormalities.

Psychometric properties of the Mobile Phone Parenting Practices Questionnaire (MPPPQ) for Chinese separated families with young children.

The current study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the newly developed Mobile Phone Parenting Practices Questionnaire (MPPPQ) in a sample of Chinese migrant parents experiencing long-term parent-child separation. A total of 547 rural-to-urban migrant parents with 3-to-6-year-old children left in rural hometowns were recruited online and completed electronic questionnaires. Exploratory (N = 288) and confirmatory (N = 259) factor analyses were successively used to identify the factor structure.
