Most proximal humeral fractures can be treated nonoperatively, but there are specific indications to perform surgery for some of these fractures. Optimal treatment remains subject to debate, since no consensus has been reached for the best therapy for these fractures. This review provides an overview of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing treatment for proximal humeral fractures.
