Gastrointestinal (GI) cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections are far more common in immunocompromised as opposed to immunocompetent patients. Immunocompetent patients who develop GI tract CMV infections are typically older with medical comorbidities. As such, descriptions of GI CMV infections in younger immunocompetent patients are lacking.

A Hospital-based Study of the Prevalence and Usage of Complementary and Alternative Medicine Among Saudi Psychiatric Patients.

Introduction Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies, used singularly or in combination with more conventional therapies, are routinely used by citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for medical care or seeking wellness. However, the prevalence of CAM therapies among Saudi psychiatric patients is not yet documented. To better understand the importance of CAM in today's medical field, particularly within the KSA and for psychiatric patients, this descriptive study aims to characterize the use of CAM therapies by a sample of psychiatric patients in the KSA.

The Significance of Sidedness in Patients with Metastatic Colorectal Cancer Treated with Triplet First-line Chemotherapy.

Background: Recent data have shown that right-sided colon cancer carries poorer prognosis compared to left-sided tumors. This study was aimed to evaluate the progression-free survival, overall survival of patients with metastatic colon cancer of right-sided versus left-sided primaries treated with triplet chemotherapy regimen.

Mixed Cryoglobulinemia in a Patient with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis.

Cryoglobulinemia is a rare illness of cryoglobulin accumulation in the blood which can typically present with arthralgia, purpura, skin ulcers, glomerulonephritis, and peripheral neuropathy. It is classified as mixed cryoglobulinemia when cryoglobulins contain more than one immune component such as IgM rheumatoid factor and polyclonal IgG. Typically, it presents in the setting of clonal hematologic disease, viral infection, or certain connective tissue diseases.

Malignant Mixed Germ Cell Tumor Overgrowing a Gonadoblastoma in a Female With a 46, XX Karyotype: A Case Report.

Gonadoblastoma is an uncommon ovarian tumor arising primarily in females with gonadal dysgenesis and a 46, XY karyotype. Germ cell tumors arising within and/or overgrowing a gonadoblastoma have been reported. We report a rare case of a malignant mixed germ cell tumor (yolk sac tumor and choriocarcinoma) arising in a gonadoblastoma of the left ovary in a 19-year-old female with a 46, XX karyotype.
