Purpose: Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a common side effect of cancer and cancer treatment that significantly impairs the quality of life and can persist for years after treatment completion. Although fatigue is often associated with cancer treatment, it is also a result of the disease itself, even before intervention. CRF at the time of diagnosis may affect treatment timing or completion and is a consistent predictor of post-treatment fatigue at any time.

Improving Laser Powder Bed Fusion Printability of Tungsten Powders Using Simulation-Driven Process Optimization Algorithms.

This study applies numerical and experimental techniques to investigate the effect of process parameters on the density, structure and mechanical properties of pure tungsten specimens fabricated by laser powder bed fusion. A numerical model based on the simplified analysis of a thermal field generated in the powder bed by a moving laser source was used to calculate the melt pool dimensions, predict the density of printed parts and build a cost-effective plan of experiments. Specimens printed using a laser power of 188 W, a scanning speed of 188 mm/s, a hatching space of 80 µm and a layer thickness of 30 µm showed a maximum printed density of 93.

Perceived sidedness and correlation to vertical movement asymmetries in young warmblood horses.

The prevalence of vertical asymmetries is high in "owner-sound" warmblood riding horses, however the origin of these asymmetries is unknown. This study investigated correlations between vertical asymmetries and motor laterality. Young warmblood riding horses (N = 65), perceived as free from lameness were evaluated on three visits, each comprising objective gait analysis (inertial measurement units system) and a rider questionnaire on perceived sidedness of the horse.

Fatal neonatal listeriosis following L. monocytogenes horizontal transmission highlights neonatal susceptibility to orally acquired listeriosis.

We report a case of fulminant fatal neonatal listeriosis due to horizontal transmission of Listeria monocytogenes (Lm) in a neonatal double room. Genomic analyses reveal a close genetic relationship between clinical isolates, supporting cross-contamination. Oral inoculation experiments in adult and neonatal mice show that neonates are susceptible to a low Lm inoculum and that this susceptibility results from the immaturity of the neonatal gut microbiota.
