Background: Studies conducted in Poland have found that 1% (~300,000) of Polish adults are obese. The degree of weight loss and reduction of discomfort associated with severe obesity are used to evaluate bariatric surgery outcomes. From the patient's point of view, QoL and mental health are the most important determinants of successful surgery, which is why interest in QoL assessment has increased.

As a result of these injuries, the number of deaths from hemorrhagic shock is constantly growing.
Material And Methods: The study presents 126 patients hospitalized after blunt and penetrating abdominal parenchymatous organ traumas over a 10-year period (2000-2010).
Background: Ischemia-reperfusion injury after organ transplantation is a major cause of delayed graft function. Prevention of post-transplant ischemia acute renal failure is still elusive.
Methods: The present study was designed to examine whether propionyl-l-carnitine, an acyl derivative of carnitine involved in fatty acid oxidation pathway and adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) generation of mitochondria, prevented renal function deterioration and structural injury induced by ischemia-reperfusion in an ex vivo rat model of isolated perfused kidney (IPK) preparation and in vivo in a model of syngeneic kidney transplantation.
