Parkinson's disease (PD) is an age-related neurodegenerative pathology of the central nervous system. The well-known abnormalities characteristic of PD are dysfunctions in the nigrostriatal system including the substantia nigra of the midbrain and the striatum. Moreover, in PD persons, alpha-synucleinopathy is associated with abnormalities in the dopaminergic brain system.

Context Chronic psychosocial stress negatively affects folliculogenesis and oogenesis. Intraovarian mechanisms mediating these effects are poorly understood. Aims This work aimed to find out how chronic psychosocial stress affects ovarian IGF1 and its receptor (IGF1R), as well as Igf1 and Igf1r gene expression in cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs).

The possibility of embryo cryopreservation is important for applying the genome resource banking (GRB) concept to those mammalian species that exhibit embryonal diapause in their early development. Odc1 encodes ODC1, which is a key enzyme in polyamine synthesis. RhoA is an essential part of Rho/ROCK system.

Embryonal diapause is a characteristic feature of about 130 mammalian species. However, very few studies have addressed cryopreservation of diapausing embryos. This work is aimed to apply program freezing to blastocysts obtained from CD1 mice, which were at diapause state after ovariectomy and the subsequent hormonal therapy.

is a parasite of the nasal and orbital sinuses of gulls and other hosts in Europe and Canada. Here, we provide an overview of previously published data on the prevalence and infection intensity of in gulls. Furthermore, based on our data, we analyze the spatiotemporal trends in the prevalence and intensity of infection by in in Czechia (central Europe; data from 1964 to 2014) and compare them with those obtained from five species of gulls in Karelia (Northwest Russia; data from 2012-2020).

Objective: To characterize sleep disorders in children and adults with different forms of myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1), to assess their impact on cognitive functions, excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) and fatigue, to determine the relationship of EDS, fatigue, and sleep disorders with the quality of life of patients.

Material And Methods: The study included 48 adults and 9 children with confirmed DM1. Patients underwent an assessment of clinical and anamnestic data, neurological, cognitive status, severity of EDS, fatigue, quality of life according to international scales and questionnaires.

Article Synopsis
  • The genus Allocreadium consists of trematode parasites primarily found in the intestines of freshwater fish.
  • The research aims to reconstruct the evolutionary relationships of four Palearctic species using DNA sequences from the 28S rRNA gene and rDNA ITS2 region, alongside their morphological descriptions.
  • The phylogenetic analysis reveals new genetic relationships among the species, challenging some existing theories about the phylogeography of the Allocreadium group.

The increased interest in utilizing lignin as a feedstock to produce various aromatic compounds requires advanced chemical analysis methods to provide qualitative and quantitative characterization of lignin samples along different technology streamlines. However, due to the lack of commercially available chemical standards, routine quantification of industrially relevant lignin oligomers in complex lignin samples remains a challenge. This study presents a novel method for universal quantification of lignin dimers based on supercritical fluid chromatography with charged aerosol detection (CAD).

Metacercariae of Diplostomum petromyzifluviatilis (Digenea, Diplostomidae) from the brain of European river lamprey Lampetra fluviatilis from the Baltic Sea basin and Arctic lamprey Lethenteron camtschaticum from the White Sea basin were studied with the use of genetic and morphological methods. Phylogenetic analysis based on cox1 marker showed that the parasites of both lamprey species were conspecific with Diplostomum sp. Lineage 4 of Blasco-Costa et al.

DNA sequence data became an integral part of species characterization and identification. Still, specimens associated with a particular DNA sequence must be identified by the use of traditional morphology-based analysis and correct linking of sequence and identification must be ensured. Only a small part of DNA sequences of the genus Diplostomum (Diplostomidae) is based on adult isolates which are essential for accurate identification.

Article Synopsis
  • Metacercariae of the Diplostomum genus are significant pathogens affecting the eyes and brains of freshwater fish, specifically studied in the minnow Phoxinus phoxinus from locations in Fennoscandia and Mongolia.
  • This research utilized both morphological observations and molecular genetic analyses to differentiate between the parasites from these regions, revealing distinct differences in size and other characteristics.
  • The study concluded that the Diplostomum species infecting minnows in Mongolia and Fennoscandia represent two previously unrecognized species associated with unique lineages of their fish host.

Purpose: The intertidal and supratidal coastal zone challenges the osmoregulatory capacity of aquatic inhabitants. Four new species of Gyrodactylus ectoparasites on two intertidal fishes from Chile are described based on molecular and morphological analyses.

Methods: Monogeneans were found from two fish species, the clingfish Sicyases sanguineus Müller & Troschel, 1843 and the combtooth blenny Scartichthys viridis Valenciennes, 1836.

The study was organized to evaluate influence of risk factors on hospital mortality in patients with acute stroke because incidence of stroke in patients of able-bodied age is increasing. All cases of in-patient care of patients of able-bodied age with acute stroke (n=4118) in the Tyumen Oblast clinical hospital № 2 during 2010-2018 were analyzed. The study was based on sampling data from hospital medical records.

Baculoviruses can persist in insect host organisms after infection and may be vertically transmitted to the next generation, in which they may be reactivated. The goal of the present study was to compare the efficiency of the vertical transmission of high- and low-virulence strains and the subsequent reactivation of Lymantria dispar multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (LdMNPV) in the offspring of L. adults who survived after viral infection.

This paper is the first report on the molecular characterisation of myxozoan parasites from the odontobutid fish Chinese (Amur) sleeper (Perccottus glenii Dybowski, 1877). The authors determined the partial 18S rDNA sequence of Myxidium shedkoae Sokolov, 2013 from the gallbladder of the fish. Phylogenies reconstructed using maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference analysis revealed that M.

At present, the problem of disparity of healthcare, including neurological care, in urban and rural settings is highly relevant. Medical care after acute stroke or other chronic disabling diseases (epilepsy, Parkinson's disease) in rural settings is quite challenging due to the lack of access to specialized medical treatment facilities, low level of resources in medical and obstetric centers, low quality of healthcare, personnel turnover in rural healthcare and insufficient coverage of population with outpatient follow-up services. The most promising optimization approaches, which proved to be effective both abroad and in the Russian Federation, including Tyumen district, are the development of multidisciplinary mobile teams and telemedicine.
