Five years after the Brumadinho dam collapse: Evaluation of water quality based on combined analysis of land use and environmental data.

The collapse of the dam in the Paraopeba River watershed in 2019 triggered significant concerns regarding water quality in the region. This study aimed to assess, five years after the disaster, the effects on water quality and understand the underlying factors of environmental pressure contributing to the observed changes. To perform the evaluation, the study utilized surface water quality data pre-disaster (2012-2018) and post-disaster (2019-2023), environmental data regarding the identification of high-polluting potential industries operating in the region of interest, and land use for the watershed as a combined evaluation.

Translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the Telemedicine Satisfaction Questionnaire for use in Brazil.

Objective: To translate, cross-culturally adapt to Brazilian Portuguese, and evaluate the reliability of the Telemedicine Satisfaction Questionnaire (TSQ).

Methods: This cross-sectional study involved patients from the Smoking Prevention and Cessation Center (PrevFumo) who participated in at least four of the eight scheduled remote meetings with the PrevFumo psychologist in 2020, 2021, or 2022. Participants were contacted by telephone and asked to answer the 14 questions of the TSQ three times at intervals of 7 or 10 days.

Background: Biallelic pathogenic variants in gene cause hypomyelinating leukodystrophy type 3, a severe neurodegenerative disorder with early onset characterized by microcephaly, axial hypotonia, epilepsy, spasticity, and developmental delay.

Methods: Clinical exome sequence was performed on patient's DNA and Sanger sequencing was used to confirm the candidate variant. To better characterize the effect of the genetic variant, functional analysis based on Sanger sequencing of the proband's complementary DNA (cDNA) was performed.

In this sense, the present study had two main objectives: (1) To evaluate the health (and economic) benefits related to the reduction in mean annual concentrations of PM and PM considering the new limits recommended by the WHO: 15 µg/m (PM) and 5 µg/m (PM) and (2) To simulate the behavior of these pollutants in scenarios with increased temperature (2 and 4 °C) using machine learning.

Sleep, Sensory Integration/Processing, and Autism: A Scoping Review.

The prevalence of sleep dysfunction is considerably higher in the autistic population than in the non-autistic. The influence of methodology on the comparison of cytotoxicity of total-etch and self-etch adhesive systems.

Objectives: The present study aimed to compare the in vitro cytocompatibility of two etch-and-rinse (Adper Scothbond, Optibond) and two self-etch (Clearfill SE Bond and Single Bond Universal) dental adhesives through a dentin-barrier model with human pulp fibroblasts.

Methods: Human fibroblasts were placed on a plastic device containing 500μm human dentin discs treated with each adhesive or without treatment (control). Other groups were directly exposed to media conditioned with adhesive samples according to ISO 10993-5:2009.

Congenital heart defects associated with pathogenic variants in WAC gene: Expanding the phenotypic and genotypic spectrum of DeSanto-Shinawi syndrome.

WAC-related intellectual disability, also known as DeSanto-Shinawi syndrome, is a rare autosomal dominant genetic disorder caused by pathogenic variants in WAC gene. This syndrome is characterized by developmental delay, intellectual disability, behavioral abnormalities, and dysmorphic facial features, including deep-set eyes, flat nasal bridge, bulbous nasal tip, and synophrys. Chromosomal deletions at 10p12p11 encompassing WAC gene have been described in patients with a similar phenotype, presenting with developmental delay, intellectual disability, visual impairments, abnormal behavior, and dysmorphic features.

Interhemispheric differences in time-frequency representation of motor evoked potentials in brain tumor patients.

Objective: Conventional time-series parameters are unreliable descriptors of motor-evoked potentials (MEPs) in brain tumor patients. Frequency domain analysis is suggested to provide additional information about the status of the cortico-spinal motor system. Aim of the present study was to describe the time-frequency representation of MEPs and its relation to the motor performance.

[Equity and access to mental health care in three Northeastern states].

The scope of this study is to discuss equity and access to mental health care by means of analysis of the distribution of primary care teams (Community Health Agents; Family Health Teams; the Expanded Family Health Nucleus) and the coverage of the Psychosocial Care Network in three Northeastern states (Ceará, Piauí and Rio Grande do Norte) and their respective health regions. It is a descriptive study, supported by exploratory quantitative analysis. For this purpose, the database of the Department of Basic Care/DATASUS was used to collect secondary data in relation to the historical trajectory of training of Primary Care teams.
