Gliding is thought to be powered by a thin layer of flowing filamentous (F)-actin sandwiched between the plasma membrane and a myosin-covered inner membrane complex. How this surface actin layer drives the various gliding modes observed in experiments-helical, circular, twirling and patch, pendulum or rolling-is unclear.

Hypothesis: Adjusting the water content and mechanical properties of polyelectrolyte coacervates for optimal underwater adhesion requires simultaneous control of the macromolecular design and the type and concentration of the salt used. Using synthetic or bio-inspired polymers to make coacervates often involves complicated chemistries and large variations in salt concentration. The underwater adhesiveness of simple, bio-sourced coacervates can be tuned with relatively small variations in salt concentration.

We correlated NGS data with degree of bone marrow (BM) involvement by cytomorphology (BMC), histopathology (BMH), and multiparameter flow cytometry (MFC) in 90 PCD patients.

Definite cure remains exceptional in myeloma patients even after high-dose chemotherapy (HDCT) with melphalan (Mel) and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). Thus, improving efficacy of HDCT in MM remains an unresolved issue. This randomized phase II trial compared standard 200 mg/m Mel HDCT to experimental HDCT with 200 mg/m bendamustine, given both at days -4 and -3, combined with 100 mg/m melphalan at days -2 and -1 (BenMel) before ASCT as first-line consolidation in myeloma patients.

Recent advances in gene-editing technologies have opened new avenues for genetic pest control strategies, in particular around the use of gene drives to suppress or modify pest populations. Significant uncertainty, however, surrounds the applicability of these strategies to novel target species, their efficacy in natural populations and their eventual safety and acceptability as control methods. Engraftment syndrome (ES) following autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) at the time of neutrophil recovery may comprise fever, rash, pulmonary edema, or diarrhea. Usually, ES is easily manageable using corticosteroids but may prolong hospitalization.
