Hyperparathyroidism with acute pancreatitis in elderly patient treated by radiofrequency ablation: A case report.

Acute pancreatitis as an initial manifestation of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) has been rarely reported. We report a case of acute pancreatitis from a hyperfunctioning parathyroid tumor in an 87-year-old woman with drowsy state. Laboratory tests showed high lipase, calcium, and intact parathyroid hormone level, and abdominal computed tomography scan revealed acute pancreatitis.

Association of clinical factors with thrombocytopenia in patients receiving linezolid treatment: a retrospective study.

Introduction: Linezolid (LZD) plays an important role in the treatment of severe infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria. Thrombocytopenia is regarded as one of the most common side effects of linezolid, which results from the destruction of platelets or myelosuppression. The study aimed to identify the risk factors associated with the development of thrombocytopenia in Vietnamese patients.

Automatic scan range for dose-reduced multiphase CT imaging of the liver utilizing CNNs and Gaussian models.

Multiphase CT scanning of the liver is performed for several clinical applications; however, radiation exposure from CT scanning poses a nontrivial cancer risk to the patients. The radiation dose may be reduced by determining the scan range of the subsequent scans by the location of the target of interest in the first scan phase. The purpose of this study is to present and assess an automatic method for determining the scan range for multiphase CT scans.

Efficacy and Safety of Radiofrequency Ablation for the Treatment of Autonomously Functioning Thyroid Nodules: A Long-Term Prospective Study.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of RFA in the AFTN treatment after 2 years of follow-up and to find the factors related to treatment responses through TSH level and VRR.

Materials And Methods: This long-term prospective study was conducted from September 2017 to April 2021 on 17 AFTNs treated with RFA. Clinical evaluations, thyroid function tests, thyroid scintigraphy, and ultrasonography examinations were performed at 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 24 months after ablation.

Pulmonary mucoepidermoid carcinoma (PMEC) is an extremely rare tumor of the respiratory system. The clinical presentation of PMEC is variable and nonspecific, including cough, hemoptysis, and wheezing, and may mimic other symptoms of pneumonia or asthma. Here, we present a case of PMEC in a 12-year-old male who was diagnosed with and treated for asthma for 2 years.

Pleuropulmonary blastoma is classified into 3 types based on morphology, including cystic (type I), mixed (type II), or solid (type III). These morphological types correlate with prognosis.

However, despite some similarities, there are also differences among the guidelines, and a consensus is required regarding safe and effective treatment in Asian countries.

A case report of Mikulicz's disease.

Mikulicz's disease is a unique condition involving the enlargement of the lacrimal and salivary glands, similar to that observed in Sjogren's syndrome; however, Mikulicz's disease is clinically characterized by infrequent autoimmune reactions and responsiveness to glucocorticoid treatment. The ultrasound features of the lacrimal and salivary glands in patients with IgG4-Mikulicz's disease were characterized by multiple hypoechoic areas of varying sizes within the enlarged glands. IgG4 serum level was also elevated, in contrast to the detection of normal levels in Sjogren's syndrome.
