Dual-energy computed tomography in supporting prostatic artery embolization for benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Our study aims to evaluate the value of 256-slice dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) in supporting prostatic artery embolization (PAE) under digital subtraction angiography (DSA) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The study was conducted on 88 patients who underwent PAE to treat BPH from January 2022 to November 2023. Of these, 38 patients who had PAE without DECT were placed in group 1, while the other 50 patients with pre-interventional DECT were assigned to group 2.

The present retrospective study aimed to investigate the diagnostic capacity of and design a diagnostic algorithm for dynamic susceptibility contrast-enhanced MRI (DSCE-MRI) and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-MRS) in grading low-grade glioma (LGG) and high-grade glioma (HGG). This retrospective study enrolled 57 patients, of which 14 had LGG and 43 had HGG, five had World Health Organization grade 1, nine had grade 2, 20 had grade 3 and 23 had grade 4 glioma. All subjects underwent a standard 3T MRI brain tumor protocol with conventional MRI (cMRI) and advanced techniques, including DSCE-MRI and H-MRS.

Methods: We conducted a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving HIV-positive adults (≥18 years of age) with tuberculous meningitis in Vietnam and Indonesia. Participants were randomly assigned to receive a 6-to-8-week tapering course of either dexamethasone or placebo in addition to 12 months of antituberculosis chemotherapy.

Social context, including social location, political structure, and social forces, significantly influence an agent to develop and exercise autonomy skills. The relational approach has been applied in clinical practice to identify relational factors impacting patient autonomy and decision-making, yet there is a knowledge gap in how these factors influence the demonstration of relational autonomy in the context of medical decisions of adults.

Right lumbar lymph trunk injury after right laparoscopic donor nephrectomy: a case report.

Safety and Efficacy of Liver Venous Deprivation Following Transarterial Chemoembolization Before Major Hepatectomy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of liver venous deprivation (LVD) following transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: Between January 2021 and December 2022, HCC patients indicated for hepatectomy with initial insufficient future liver remnant (FLR) underwent LVD after TACE to induce preoperative liver hypertrophy.

Results: Twenty-seven HCC patients with a median age of 55 years underwent LVD.

Splenic Artery Embolization in Conservative Management of Blunt Splenic Injury Graded by 2018 AAST-OIS: Results from a Hospital in Vietnam.

Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the results of conservative management of blunt splenic trauma according to the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma-Organ Injury Scale (AAST-OIS) in 2018 by embolization.

Methods: This observational study included 50 patients (42 men and 8 women) with splenic injury who underwent multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) and embolization.

Results: According to the 2018 AAST-OIS, 27 cases had higher grades than they did according to the 1994 AAST-OIS.

Appendiceal hemorrhage: An uncommon cause of lower gastrointestinal tract bleeding and intraluminal contrast extravasation.

Lower gastrointestinal tract bleeds due to appendiceal hemorrhage are extremely rare. This emergency condition requires a multidisciplinary approach to not only give a prompt diagnosis and exclude differential diagnosis but also crucial to proceed with proper intervention and cause of bleeding. In this paper, we report a case of appendiceal hemorrhage in a young male patient who presented with lower gastrointestinal bleeding.

Solitary cardiac cysticercosis.

Cardiac cysticercosis is rare in clinical practice and is usually accidentally identified during cardiac surgery or autopsies. Although mostly asymptomatic, cardiac cysticercosis could present with severe clinical conditions such as myocarditis, acute myocardial infarction, and arrhythmia. We present a 51-year-old female patient who accidentally discovered a solitary mass in the myocardium.

Successful treatment of thoracic duct injury from blunt trauma.

Chylothorax is a rare condition after blunt trauma. We present a 32-year-olds man with a thoracic duct injury resulting in the right chylothorax after a motor vehicle collision. After the failure of conservative management, the patient underwent lymphangiography and successfully embolized the thoracic duct.
