Synthesis of Carbamoyl Fluorides Using a Difluorophosgene Surrogate Derived from Difluorocarbene and Pyridine -Oxides.

We report a method for the synthesis of carbamoyl fluorides from secondary amines using bench-stable, inexpensive, and readily accessible starting materials that, when combined, yield a surrogate for toxic difluorophosgene (COF) gas. In contrast to state-of-the-art methods for the synthesis of carbamoyl fluorides, our protocol does not require the use of pre-functionalized substrates, the preparation of light-, temperature-, and/or moisture-sensitive chemicals, or the application of explosive fluorinating reagents.

cAMP-induced decrease in cell-surface laminin receptor and cellular prion protein attenuates amyloid-β uptake and amyloid-β-induced neuronal cell death.

Previous studies have shown that amyloid-β oligomers (AβO) bind with high affinity to cellular prion protein (PrP ). The AβO-PrP complex binds to cell-surface co-receptors, including the laminin receptor (67LR). Our current studies revealed that in Neuroscreen-1 cells, 67LR is the major co-receptor involved in the cellular uptake of AβO and AβΟ-induced cell death.

Efficacy and Safety of Apatinib plus Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy for Locally Advanced Esophageal Squamous Cancer: A Phase II Trial.

We conducted a single-arm phase II trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of apatinib combined with taxol and cisplatin (ATP) for locally advanced ESCC. An Atypical Case of Idiopathic Purpura Fulminans.

Idiopathic purpura fulminans (PF) is rare but has been reported in pediatric patients, commonly following infections. We present a case of a 5-year-old boy, heterozygous for factor V Leiden, with no history of recent infections, who presented with PF secondary to acquired protein S deficiency. Despite initial supportive treatment, the patient required surgical fasciotomy and extensive skin grafts.
