This study explores the influence of organizational practices on gender in/equality in a unique setting: the reformed Israeli kibbutz. The transition of the kibbutz from all members receiving an allowance to waged labor provides an opportunity to explore the impact of wage determination systems on gender pay inequality. The study uses a mixed-method approach: descriptive statistics of administrative data, in-depth interviews, and a focus group with kibbutz management.

Anti-D is a donor-derived polyclonal Ab against the rhesus D Ag on erythrocytes used to treat ITP. Unfortunately, adverse inflammatory/hypersensitivity reactions and a Food and Drug Administration-issued black box warning have limited its clinical use.

However, a fundamental requirement of RM is continuous connectivity between the patient's implanted device and the CIED manufacturer's central server. This study examined the rate of RM disconnections in CIED recipients and the impact of short message service (SMS) to facilitate reconnections.

FcγRIIIA on macrophages can trigger phagocytosis of IgG-sensitized platelets, and prior pilot studies observed blockade of FcγRIIIA increased platelet counts in patients with ITP. Unfortunately, although blockade of FcγRIIIA in patients with ITP increased platelet counts, its engagement by the blocking antibody drove serious adverse inflammatory reactions.

Their verification results in a high workload for caregivers. We evaluated the performance of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based ILR-ECG Analyzer™ (ILR-ECG-A).

This severe and potentially fatal neonatal disorder can be prevented by the administration of polyclonal anti-D through a mechanism referred to as antibody-mediated immune suppression (AMIS). Although anti-D prophylaxis effectively prevents HDFN, a lack of mechanistic clarity has hampered its replacement with recombinant agents.

However, the AF burden measurements and notifications transmitted by CIEDs are not directly related to the clinical classification of paroxysmal, persistent, or permanent AF. Moreover, AF alerts are the most frequent form of notification, imposing a time-consuming review on caregivers.

However, there are few studies characterizing the capacity and mechanisms of humoral factor-triggered macrophage phagocytosis of platelets using specimens from patients with ITP. Here, we assessed sera from a cohort of 24 patients with ITP for the capacity to trigger macrophage phagocytosis of normal donor platelets and characterized the contribution of humoral factors to phagocytosis.

Deep learning and Gaussian processes have been applied to bring the estimations closer to the cavity volumes manually extracted. CMR data from 339 patients and healthy volunteers have been used to train a stepwise regression model that can estimate the volume of the left ventricular cavity at the beginning and end of diastole.

However, despite adequate prophylaxis, failures can still occur in the clinic and are poorly understood. Recently, the copy number of red blood cell (RBC) antigens has been shown to influence immunogenicity in the context of RBC alloimmunization; however, its influence on AMIS remains unexplored.

Recently, RBC antigen density has been proposed as one of the factors that can influence alloimmunization, however, there has been no characterization of the role of antigen density along with RBC dose in primary and secondary immunization.
Study Design And Methods: To generate RBCs that express distinct antigen copy numbers, different quantities of hen egg lysozyme (HEL) were coupled to murine RBCs.
Fc gamma receptors (FcγRs) are critical effector receptors for immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies. On macrophages, FcγRs mediate multiple effector functions, including phagocytosis, but the individual contribution of specific FcγRs to phagocytosis has not been fully characterized. Primary human macrophage populations, such as splenic macrophages, can express FcγRI, FcγRIIA, and FcγRIIIA.

Background: In patients with cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds), the need for implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) back-up may be questionable at time of CRT-D replacement (REP) if ICD implant criteria are no longer met due to an improved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and if no major ventricular arrhythmic event (VAE) occurred during the CRT-D lifetime. The aim of our study was to assess the relevance of ICD back-up and predictors of VAE after REP in primary prevention CRT-D patients.
Methods: The prospective, observational, international BioCONTINUE study investigated the rate of patients with at least 1 sustained VAE (sVAE) post-REP and searched for predictive factors of sVAE.

Personalized computational cardiac models are considered to be a unique and powerful tool in modern cardiology, integrating the knowledge of physiology, pathology and fundamental laws of mechanics in one framework. They have the potential to improve risk prediction in cardiac patients and assist in the development of new treatments. However, in order to use these models for clinical decision support, it is important that both the impact of model parameter perturbations on the predicted quantities of interest as well as the uncertainty of parameter estimation are properly quantified, where the first task is a priori in nature (meaning independent of any specific clinical data), while the second task is carried out a posteriori (meaning after specific clinical data have been obtained).

We consider parameter inference in cardio-mechanic models of the left ventricle, in particular the one based on the Holtzapfel-Ogden (HO) constitutive law, using clinical in vivo data. The equations underlying these models do not admit closed form solutions and hence need to be solved numerically. These numerical procedures are computationally expensive making computational run times associated with numerical optimisation or sampling excessive for the uptake of the models in the clinical practice.

Biomechanical studies of LV function in three dimensions usually rely on a computerized representation of the LV geometry based on finite element discretization, which is essential for numerically simulating in vivo cardiac dynamics. Detailed knowledge of the LV geometry is also relevant for various other clinical applications, such as assessing the LV cavity volume and wall thickness.

Measuring contact friction in soft-bodies usually requires a specialised physics bench and a tedious acquisition protocol. This makes the prospect of a purely non-invasive, video-based measurement technique particularly attractive. Previous works have shown that such a video-based estimation is feasible for material parameters using deep learning, but this has never been applied to the friction estimation problem which results in even more subtle visual variations.

Anti-CD44 anti-inflammatory activity shows complete therapeutic concordance with IV immunoglobulin (IVIg) in treating autoimmune disease models, making anti-CD44 a potential IVIg alternative. In murine immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), there is no mechanistic explanation for anti-CD44 activity, although anti-CD44 ameliorates disease similarly to IVIg.
