[Tumors of the small intestine].

On the basis of 20 observations of tumours of the small bowel a series of diagnostic, therapeutic and prognosis of these lesions are discussed. Malignant tumours of the small bowel (10 adenocarcinomas and 2 sarcomas in the present statistics) represent 1,9 per cent of the total number of malignant tumours of the small bowel. The carcino-embrionary antigen was estimated in 26 patients without malignant diseases (15 with inguinal hernia and 11 with urinary lithiasis--all of them before surgery), and in 47 patients with urothelial tumors. The direct radioimmune technique was used (a commercial kit from France /CEA IRE SORIN/) applied to isolated samples of sterile urine obtained at 12 hours. [Unusual localizations of hydatid cysts].

In a total of 448 hydatic cysts that have been treated in the I-st Surgery Clinic of Jassy between 1947 and 1977 rare localizations were noted in 61 cases. Of these 47 were primary echinococcoses and 14 were secondary. The clinical and therapeutic aspects are discussed for each particular localization: the splenic localization was encountered in 16 cases, the peritoneal one in 10 cases, the diaphragmatic in 6 cases.

On the basis of clinical and biological data, surgical investigation and histopathological aspects, a number of 35 localized froms of thyroiditis have been given a diagnosis in order to assess their incidence in case of both nodular goiter and chronical inflammatory processes at the thyroid gland level. Three possibilities are considered: the proper inflammatory lesions--granulomatous, lymphoplasmocitary and ligneous thyroiditis, the cystic formations circumscribed by the glandular tissue with inflammatory signs as well as the association of thyroid cancer with chronic thyroiditis--seldom reported in literature--upon which 2 observations have been made.
