Recognizing the challenges posed by chemotherapy, specifically the hepatotoxic effects of drugs like cisplatin, this study aimed to examine the hepatoprotective potential of dapagliflozin to mitigate cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity in a rat model. This study focused on repurposing drugs such as dapagliflozin and natural agents like silymarin as potential interventions to address cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity. Thirty adult female Wistar rats were distributed into five groups and treated with cisplatin alone, silymarin, dapagliflozin, or a combination of dapagliflozin and silymarin accordingly for 45 days.

This study explores a comprehensive analysis of perceived at-risk factors impeding academic and career aspirations and compares the perspectives of students and faculty in a medical school.
Methods: We focused on first and second-year medical (MBBS) students and teaching faculty in an international medical college offering a twinning program in India and Malaysia.
This study was aimed to investigate the hepatoprotective potential of dapagliflozin and silymarin alone and in combination to combat carbon tetrachloride (CCl)-induced hepatotoxicity and the anticipated mechanisms. Thirty female Wistar rats were randomly allocated into five different groups. All the experimental animals except the normal control (Group I) were administered CCl.

There is no ideal cardioprotection available against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity. This study aimed to investigate the anticipated cardioprotective potential of metformin and dapagliflozin against doxorubicin-induced acute cardiotoxicity in Wistar rats.

Nowadays, neuronutraceuticals have gained remarkable attention. It is necessary to investigate the bioavailability, off-target effects, and mechanism of action of neuronutraceuticals.

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the hepatoprotective effect of BM-MSC and its combination treatment with silymarin in carbon tetrachloride (CCl)-induced liver cirrhosis animal model and to investigate whether tail vein or portal vein infusion was the ideal route for BM-MSC transplantation. 36 female Wistar rats were randomly divided into six groups ( = 6): Group 1 (normal control), Group 2 (received only CCl, disease model), Group 3 (CCl + BM-MSCs through tail vein), Group 4 (CCl + BM-MSCs through portal vein), Group 5 (CCl + silymarin), Group 6 (CCl + BM-MSCs + silymarin).

The fundamental rules for improving neuronal staining using the Golgi-Cox method are not fully understood; both intrinsic and extrinsic factors may control the staining process. Therefore, various conditions were tested to improve the Golgi-Cox protocol for vibratome-cut rat brain sections.

The present study explored the association of 5HTTLPR and 5HTTLPR-rs25531 polymorphisms with the treatment response of escitalopram in South Indian patients with major depressive disorder.
Methods: A total of 148 depressive patients receiving escitalopram 10-20 mg/day were genotyped for 5HTTLPR and rs25531 polymorphisms.
Background: Manuka honey has attracted the attention of the scientific community for its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. The active compounds of manuka honey to which its myeloperoxidase activity inhibition is owed are methyl syringate (MSYR) and leptosin (a novel glycoside of MSYR). The non-peroxide antibacterial activity is attributed to glyoxal, 3-deoxyglucosulose, and methylglyoxal.

Methods: This was an experimental study. Liver cirrhosis was induced in adult female Wistar rats using CCl.
Background & Objectives: Pioglitazone was suspended for manufacture and sale by the Indian drug regulator in June 2013 due to its association with urinary bladder carcinoma, which was revoked within a short period (July 2013). The present questionnaire-based nationwide study was conducted to assess its impact on prescribing behaviour of physicians in India.
Methods: Between December 2013 and March 2014, a validated questionnaire was administered to physicians practicing diabetes across 25 centres in India.
Background And Objectives: The antimicrobial combination with synergistic mechanism is recommended to provide broad-spectrum coverage, and prevent the emergence of resistant mutants. In the present study, the synergistic activity of lysostaphin with linezolid, oxacillin and vancomycin, against methicillin-resistant (MRSA) clinical isolates was determined.
Materials And Methods: Seventy-three MRSA isolates collected from clinical specimens were tested, for synergistic activity of lysostaphin with linezolid, vancomycin and oxacillin, by checkerboard assay.
Introduction: Bone Marrow-derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (BM-MSCs) are multipotent stem cells isolated from adult human bone marrow. Properties of MSCs make them potentially ideal candidates for regenerative medicine. The preclinical data available in the literature regarding the safety assessment of MSCs at different dosage group is scanty.

Methods: 209 patients diagnosed with any anxiety or depressive disorder and started on mirtazapine, sertraline, desvenlafaxine, escitalopram or fluoxetine were assessed at baseline, after 2 weeks, and after 6 weeks with psychopathology rating scales and for predefined categories of JS.
Introduction: Analgesics are commonly prescribed medications used to alleviate pain of various aetiologies without affecting the patient's consciousness. They interfere with the transmission of pain signals. A commonly used antiepileptic drug, sodium valproate has been used in various non-epileptic conditions like migraine prophylaxis and in the treatment of bipolar disorder because of the multiple mechanisms by which it acts.

Pharmacological management of the condition is complex, as multiple drug groups have to be used, as the syndrome itself is multi faceted. Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors (ACEIs) are chiefly used to manage the hypertensive component of the syndrome.

The issue of male germ line mutagenesis and the effects on developmental defects in the next generation has become increasingly high profile over recent years. Mutagenic substance affects germinal cells in the testis. Since the cells are undergoing different phases of cell division and maturation, it is an ideal system to study the effect of chemotherapeutic agents.

The structures - hippocampus (vital for learning and memory) and cerebellum (play a role in motor behavior and cognition) - which develop postnatally, are affected by developmental Pb exposure. The effect of low level of Pb exposure during specific periods of early brain development on early neurobehavioral outcomes in rat pups has not been studied.
