This study was undertaken in order to identify the prevalence and factors associated with depression in a group of patients with type II diabetes mellitus. 200 patients (127 women/73 men) with type II diabetes mellitus, from Diabetic Clinic of 1st Propedeutic Medical Department of Aristotle's University of Thessaloniki, AHEPA Hospital, were enrolled in our study. Introduction: Loss of screw tightness resulting in abutment movement and displacement of the crown or prosthesis may occur from plastic deformation of the screw. This study correlates changes in screw length and diameter with previously reported loss of screw tightness.

In the following case report we present a 43-year-old male patient diagnosed with schizophrenia, paranoid type, who exhibited nocturnal tardive akathisia or pseydoakathisia approximately one year after being treated with clozapine 300 mg per day. Because of the low occurrence of akathisia due to clozapine, the episodes of restlessness were at first considered as a sign of worsening of the patient's psychopathology. Since the patient was resistant to other antipsychotic agents, clozapine was reinitiated.

The dexamethasone suppression test (DST) was administered to 30 inpatients who met the DSM-III-R criteria for chronic schizophrenia and shared similar environments. Four of them (13%) were DST nonsuppressors. The mean and maximum postdexamethasone cortisol levels were correlated with the patient's score on the scale for the Schedule for the Assessment of Negative Symptoms and with the score on the anergia subscale of the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale.

A double-blind study of 42 psychotic patients treated with neuroleptics evaluated the need for prophylactic use of antiparkinsonian medication. The patients assigned to placebo (N = 27) presented significantly more severe extrapyramidal symptomatology, particularly dystonias, than those given trihexyphenidyl (N = 15), indicating a need for the prophylactic use of antiparkinsonian medication during treatment with neuroleptics.
