Six cases of tropical rat mite (Ornithonyssus bacoti) dermatitis are presented. The patients experienced papular urticaria, and mites were found on and identified in several of the patients. The presence of rodents in or around the home was confirmed in most cases.

A house-to-house survey of dogs in a 26-km2 area of Pleasants Valley (Northern California) was done to determine the prevalence of the filariids Dirofilaria immitis Leidy and Dipetalonema reconditum Grassi in the canine population. Sarcoptid mites identified as Trixacarus caviae (Acarina: Sarcoptidae) were found in skin scrapings taken from two pet guinea pigs with generalized skin lesions. Clinical signs included intense pruritus, widespread alopecia and hyperkeratosis. The lesions regressed following treatment with lime sulfur.

The rate of escape of the third-stage larvae of Brugia pahangi from Aedes togoi which were allowed to probe on a cat and a mouse at time intervals of 5, 10, 20, 30 and 60 seconds was studied.
