Atypical Late-Onset Exudative Retinal Detachment in a Treatment-Naïve Infant With Retinopathy of Prematurity.

A male infant born at 23 weeks gestation with a birthweight of 660 grams presented with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) that began progressing at 44 weeks. He subsequently developed Zone III, Stage 3, pre-plus disease in both eyes (OU), as well as scattered exudates in the macula, dragged vessels temporally, and an exudative retinal detachment temporally in the left eye after a period of regressing and stable ROP. After bilateral laser photocoagulation, there was regression of the neovascularization, resolution of the exudative detachment, and eventual stabilization of disease OU by 12 months postmenstrual age.

Basal cell carcinoma accounts for 90% of malignant tumors of the eyelid. Basal cell carcinoma has been reported to rarely occur in conjunction with osteoma cutis or bone formation in the skin. The mechanism of this secondary osteoma cutis has yet to be explained.

Calcifying nested stromal-epithelial tumor (CNSET) is a rare neoplasm. In the 31 reported cases, CNSET is predominantly found in young girls and women. Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome (BWS) (OMIM #130650) is an overgrowth syndrome with an increased risk to develop cancer.

Congenital Cyst of the Pancreas: A Case Report and Review of Literature.

This is a case of a newborn female with congenital pancreatic cysts discovered incidentally. The 5-week-old infant had multiple abdominal cysts originating from the pancreas. When the radiologist catheter placement failed to alleviate the symptoms, the infant underwent laparoscopic excision.

Calcifying nested stromal-epithelial tumor (CNSET), an extremely rare tumor found in the liver, was first described in 2001 by Ishak et al. The characteristic imaging features include large size, well-circumscribed, enhancing mass with calcification. To our knowledge, since 2001, there have been 29 reported.

Rare presentation of four primary pediatric cardiac tumors.

Pediatric cardiac tumors are extremely rare and usually benign. We selected four unique cases of pediatric cardiac tumors from a 15-year period at our institution. The four chosen cases represent unique, rare primary tumors of the heart.
