Objective: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a leading cause of hospital-acquired morbidity for pediatric patients. Pharmacological thromboprophylaxis increases the risk of adverse events such as bleeding complications. There exists a need for a universal VTE risk assessment tool to aid in thromboprophylaxis prescribing while minimizing the risk of adverse events.
