Objective: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness and impact of participation by psychiatric residents in an academic institution's tiered psychotherapy pathway.
Methods: The authors invited pathway graduates who earned an area of distinction between 2013 and 2020 (N=22) to complete an anonymous online survey about their pathway experiences.
Results: Thirteen graduates (59%) responded to the survey.
Depression and cognitive disorders, including dementia and mild cognitive impairment, are common in the elderly. Depression is also a common feature of cognitive impairment although the symptoms of depression in cognitive impairment differ from depression without cognitive impairment. Pre-morbid depression approximately doubles the risk of subsequent dementia.

However, exploration of the biological changes in the brain that mediate that relationship has been hampered by the lack of appropriate biomarkers. This report represents an initial step exploring whether a potential infant biomarker, smooth pursuit eye movements, may be associated with prenatal exposure to maternal anxiety.
