Lin28a is extensively regulated at the posttranscriptional level, and can undergo mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)-mediated elevation from low basal levels in differentiated cells by phosphorylation-dependent stabilizing interaction with the RNA-silencing factor HIV TAR RNA-binding protein (TRBP).
