The link between incest and domestic violence is explored. Violence is an inherent characteristic of humanity, but its expression is supposed to be channeled by family and societal norms, notably the fundamental prohibitions of murder and incest. The aggressor's act lies outside these common norms, while the victims are often made vulnerable by a family past marked by violence.

If the child witness does not suffer physical violence in his flesh, growing up in a context of conjugal violence is not without damage for his subjective construction. The violence frightens them, makes them anxious and insecure, and confronts them with the question of death, which cannot be represented or symbolized. Trauma and a possible identification with the aggressor are born from this.
