Social behaviors as welfare indicators in teleost fish.

Animal welfare is a key issue not only for aquaculture industry and food production, but also for daily husbandry practices in research topics related to physiology in wild and farmed animals. In this context, teleost fish constitute interesting models to assess alternative welfare indicators because of their wide diversity in reproductive and social structures. Any framework for assessing teleost fish welfare needs to account for the physiological mechanisms involved in each species as a first step.

2D SLAM Algorithms Characterization, Calibration, and Comparison Considering Pose Error, Map Accuracy as Well as CPU and Memory Usage.

The present work proposes a method to characterize, calibrate, and compare, any 2D SLAM algorithm, providing strong statistical evidence, based on descriptive and inferential statistics to bring confidence levels about overall behavior of the algorithms and their comparisons. This work focuses on characterize, calibrate, and compare Cartographer, Gmapping, HECTOR-SLAM, KARTO-SLAM, and RTAB-Map SLAM algorithms. There were four metrics in place: pose error, map accuracy, CPU usage, and memory usage; from these four metrics, to characterize them, Plackett-Burman and factorial experiments were performed, and enhancement after characterization and calibration was granted using hypothesis tests, in addition to the central limit theorem.

Texture changes during chilled storage of wild and farmed blackspot seabream () fed different diets.

The impact of changes in dietary lipids and protein sources on texture was evaluated on farmed blackspot seabream () throughout 14 days of ice storage and compared with wild fish. A commercial diet formulated with a high proportion of lipids, and two diets formulated with an important reduction of lipid levels by 60% and adding either plant protein sources (LL diet) or fishmeal (LL + diet) were supplied during growth until commercial size was attained. In the wild fish, the raw fillet hardness was significantly higher than in farmed fish during the entire ice-storage period.

[High school students and their knowledge about HIV/AIDS: what has changed in ten years?].

An exploratory, descriptive, comparative study with a quantitative approach, whose objective was to compare the knowledge of high school students from two public state schools of Peruíbe, SP, Brazil, about Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), in the years 1999 and 2010. In both of these years, the predominant population studied was female students, under 18 years old, unmarried and white. A statistically significant difference was found with respect to knowledge about HIV/AIDS among the groups studied.

[Differences between female and male adolescents regarding individual vulnerability to HIV].

The objective of this study was to comparatively analyze male and female adolescents' vulnerability to HIV/AIDS, based on their knowledge, values and practices. This is an exploratory-descriptive study, performed using a quantitative approach. The students answered a questionnaire from which relevant questions were selected for the analysis.
