Case Report: Relevance of an Accurate Diagnosis and Monitoring of Infective Dermatitis Associated With Human T-Lymphotropic Virus Type 1 in Childhood.

Human T-lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) is a neglected retrovirus distributed worldwide and the ethiological agent of several pathologies, such as adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL), a chronic myelopathy known as HTLV-1 associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP) and infective dermatitis associated with HTLV-1 (IDH). HTLV-1 presents tropism for CD4 T cells and induces deregulation of the cytokine profile. IDH is a severe, chronic superinfected eczema generally associated with and/or infection that responds partially to antibiotic therapy but prompt recurrence develops upon treatment withdrawal.

[Pediatric pyomyositis: Experience in a Pediatric Reference Center in Argentina].

Background: Pyomyositis is the infection of skeletal muscle, a rare pathology in children. Aim To describe the characteristics of pyomyositis in pediatric patients.

Methods: Prospective analytical study of hospitalized children diagnosed with pyomyositis from May 2016 to April 2017 at the Ricardo Gutiérrez Children's Hospital, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

[Pyogenic liver abscess in children: clinical experience in a pediatric reference center].

Introduction: Liver abscess is a serious and an uncommon pediatric disease.

Objective And Method: Description of 20 pediatric patients with liver abscess admitted in "Ricardo Gutierrez" Children's Hospital, a Tertiary Reference Center of Buenos Aires, between 2009 and 2015.

Results: The hospitalization rate was 35/100.

[The ABCD of malaria prevention in pediatric travelers].

The development and spread of drug resistant malaria parasites, population and travelers movements to malaria zones have led to the resurgence of malaria as a global health problem. Estimates suggest that 660,000 deaths occur annually, mainly in infants, children and pregnant woman. Disease knowledge and protection against mosquito bites are the first line of defense against malaria.
