This study aimed to investigate the thermal behavior and composition of volatile compounds, fatty acids and polyphenols in paprika obtained from peppers of different countries. The thermal analysis revealed various transformations in the paprika composition, namely drying, water loss and decomposition of volatile compounds, fatty acids, amino acids, cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. The main fatty acids found in all paprika oils were linoleic (20.

The present work reports the photoluminescence (PL) and photocatalytic properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) decorated with Fe-doped ZnO nanoparticles. MWCNT:ZnO-Fe nanocomposite samples with weight ratios of 1:3, 1:5 and 1:10 were prepared using a facile synthesis method. The obtained crystalline phases were evidenced by X-ray diffraction (XRD).

Diabetes mellitus and high-fat diets trigger the mechanisms that alter the walls of blood vessels. Gold nanoparticles, as new pharmaceutical drug delivery systems, may be used in the treatment of different diseases. In our study, the aorta was investigated via imaging after the oral administration of gold nanoparticles functionalized with bioactive compounds derived from fruit extract (AuNPsCM) in rats with a high-fat diet and diabetes mellitus.

Engineered nanomaterials are increasingly used in everyday life applications and, in consequence, significant amounts are being released into the environment. From soil, water, and air they can reach the organelles of edible plants, potentially impacting the food chain and human health. The potential environmental and health impact of these nanoscale materials is of public concern.

Glucose oxidase and glutamate oxidase lines, with typical width of 100 microm, were patterned on gold surfaces using a micro-dispensing system, by shooting 100 pl droplets of the corresponding enzyme solutions. The probe of a scanning electrochemical microscope (SECM) was then carefully positioned in the close proximity of the enzyme microstructure and poised to +600 mV vs. Ag/AgCl, KCl 0.
