Integration of multi-omic data for the purposes of biomarker discovery can provide novel and robust panels across multiple biological compartments. Appropriate analytical methods are key to ensuring accurate and meaningful outputs in the multi-omic setting. Here, we extensively profile the proteome and transcriptome of patient pancreatic cyst fluid (PCF) (n = 32) and serum (n = 68), before integrating matched omic and biofluid data, to identify biomarkers of pancreatic cancer risk.

A Qualitative Exploration of Peer Supporters' Experiences of Undertaking a Co-Produced Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being Training Programme.

Introduction: Peer supporters play a crucial role in mental health and support services, but their own mental health and emotional well-being are often neglected by themselves, and, frequently, their organisations. Here, we report findings from a qualitative interview study of peer supporters who completed a co-produced emotional well-being training programme.

Method: Ten semi-structured interviews with peer supporters working in the North East of England were conducted to explore their experiences of the training programme.

The homecare sector's high turnover rate is linked to poor working conditions and a lack of person-centered practice. Limited research exists on the training and psychosocial needs of homecare workers caring for people living with dementia (PLWD). This systematic review explored these needs and identified 285 studies, of which seven studies met the inclusion criteria.

Evaluating the effects of a multicomponent support service for people recently diagnosed with dementia and their carers: A qualitative study.

Introduction: Although prior research has provided an understanding of the needs of people living with dementia (PLWD) and their carers, less is known about how tailored multicomponent interventions impact their lives. This study explored the effect of providing ongoing support to people who had been recently diagnosed with dementia and to their carers.

Methods: We conducted interviews with a convenience sample of key stakeholders: 11 interviews with people who had dementia and their familial carers (n = 14) and six interviews with staff and other practitioners involved with the service (n = 13).

Diagnostic Accuracy of Blood-based Biomarkers for Pancreatic Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Unlabelled: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a 5-year survival rate below 5%. Carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) is the most commonly used blood-based biomarker for PDAC in current clinical practice, despite having been shown repeatedly to be inaccurate and have poor diagnostic performance. This review aims to assess the reported diagnostic accuracy of all blood-based biomarkers investigated to date in PDAC, by directly comparing individual biomarkers and multi-biomarker panels, both containing CA19-9 and not (novel).

Multi-Omic Biomarkers as Potential Tools for the Characterisation of Pancreatic Cystic Lesions and Cancer: Innovative Patient Data Integration.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is regarded as one of the most lethal malignant diseases in the world, with GLOBOCAN 2020 estimates indicating that PC was responsible for almost half a million deaths worldwide in 2020. Pancreatic cystic lesions (PCLs) are fluid-filled structures found within or on the surface of the pancreas, which can either be pre-malignant or have no malignant potential. While some PCLs are found in symptomatic patients, nowadays many PCLs are found incidentally in patients undergoing cross-sectional imaging for other reasons-so called 'incidentalomas'.

The etiology of PAH is complex, multifactorial, and likely involves the interplay between genetic and environmental factors. These are reviewed with emphasis on the nitric oxide pathway.

Quality of Internet geriatric health information: the GeriatricWeb project.

Many physicians report that Internet health information can affect their clinical decisions. Much of Internet geriatric health information (IGHI) is not controlled for quality, and there is no available process to assess the quality of IGHI used in clinical practice or in medical education. The objective of this project was to describe the development of an assessment process of IGHI and to report on the quality of existing IGHI through the GeriatricWeb project.
