Article Synopsis
  • - This study aimed to create a convolutional neural network (CNN) to detect and classify fractures, focusing on specific characteristics like greater tuberosity displacement and neck-shaft angle, using plain X-rays.
  • - The CNN was trained with over 1,700 X-rays from Australia and validated with data from the Netherlands, comparing results with CT scans evaluated by experts.
  • - The CNN demonstrated a high detection accuracy of 94% for fractures, but less effectiveness in identifying specific fracture characteristics, particularly showing lower performance for greater tuberosity displacement and neck-shaft angles.

Objectives: To determine the frequency of post-traumatic complaints and recovery rate of non-hospitalised patients with minor head injury (MHI) and their relationship with demographic and injury characteristics. We also evaluated the differences between patient groups in this least severe category of brain and head injury.

Design: Prospective cohort follow-up study.

Falls and balance difficulties remain a major source of morbidity in Parkinson's Disease (PD) and are stubbornly resistant to therapeutic interventions. The mechanisms of gait impairment in PD are incompletely understood but may involve changes in the Pedunculopontine Nucleus (PPN) and its associated connections. We utilized fMRI to explore the modulation of PPN connectivity by Galvanic Vestibular Stimulation (GVS) in healthy controls ( = 12) and PD subjects even without overt evidence of Freezing of Gait (FOG) while on medication ( = 23).
